First-ever Philip Kotler Presidential award entitled to PM Narendra Modi

“Womaniya on GeM” launched by Government e Marketplace [GeM]

The Commerce Ministry announced that the Government e Marketplace [GeM] launched “Womaniya on GeM” initiative to enable women entrepreneurs and women self-help groups [WSHGs] to sell handicrafts and handloom, accessories, etc. directly to various Government ministries, departments and institutions.


CEO GeM,S Radha Chauhan, launched a 3-minute video to highlight the essence and benefits of the Womaniya initiative. She stressed the fact that Nearly 80 percent women-owned establishments are self-financed.

More than 60 percent of 8 million units are owned and or led by women entrepreneurs from socially-challenged sections of the society.

 Economic empowerment of women is a step in the direction of poverty alleviation.

Artist Anukta M Ghosh’s artwork “Magan”, an illustration of women empowerment and grace, is the face of Womaniya on GeM.

Minister Harshvardhan launches special weather services for Kumbh Mela

Union Earth Sciences Minister Harsh Vardhan launched a special weather service for the Kumbh Mela, which includes setting up of four automatic weather stations (AWS), the special weather services for the benefit of people visiting Prayagraj during Kumbh Melaat a function in New Delhi.

The service will provide information of the prevailing weather and forecasts for next 3 days through four Automatic Weather stations (AWS).



The observation sites are distributed in all four directions within the radius of 5-10 kilometres and are located at the Allahabad University, Delhi Public SchoolG B Panth Institute of Social Science and Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS).

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s 2-day visit to Andaman Nicobar Command (ANC)

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman embarked on her 2-day visit to Andaman & Nicobar islands. The Defence Minister is on a two day visit to Andaman Nicobar Command (ANC) on 13 & 14 Jan 2019.

She was received by Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command at INS Utkrosh.

This was her second visit to the Command, she will be reviewing its operational preparedness and infrastructural developments of the outlying units of ANC.

The Defence Minister will witness an operational exercise involving all the forces of the Command, off Campbell Bay in the Great Nicobar Island on 14 Jan 2019.

Gujarat becomes 1st state to implement 10% quota to EWS (Economically Weaker sections)

Gujarat Government has announced that the benefits of 10 per cent quota for Economically Weaker Sections of general category in educational institutions and government jobs will be applicable from 14th January 2019 midnight tonight.


Gujarat becomes the first state in the country to implement 10 per cent reservation in government jobs and education to economically weaker sections in the general category.
