7th Economic Census fieldwork to be launched in Tripura

The fieldwork of 7th Economic Census (EC) is being launched in the States of Tripura on 29th July 2019, and in Puducherry soon after. The fieldwork in other State/ UTs will be launched in August/ September, 2019.

The enumerators and supervisors engaged by CSC have been trained to collect data on mobile application developed for data capture, validation, report generation and dissemination.

The data will be collected through door to door survey of each household and commercial establishments under the provisions of Collection of Statistics Act 2008.

The data collected by enumerators will be verified by supervisors in subsequent visit to the concerned household and establishments. After completion of data collection and processing, the statistical results of 7th Economic Census would be released.

About Economic Census 2019

The Seventh Economic Census (7th EC) is being conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) in 2019.

In the current Economic Census, MoSPI has partnered with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as the implementing agency for 7th EC. In the 7th EC, an IT based digital platform for data capture, validation, report generation and dissemination will be used.

 The results of the exercise will be made available after verification and validation of the field work.

Economic Census will cover all establishments including household enterprises, engaged in production or distribution of goods/services (other than for the sole purpose of own consumption) in non-farm agricultural and non-agricultural sector will be counted......Read More


GST Council Reduces Tax on Electric Cars and EV Chargers from 12% to 5%

The 36th GST Council Meeting was held in New Delhi, Via Video Conference under the chairmanship of Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.

The meeting was also attended by Union Minister of State for Finance & Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur besides Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey and other senior officials of the Ministry of Finance.


The Council has recommended the following:

The GST rate on all electric vehicles be reduced from 12% to 5%. The GST rate on charger or charging stations for Electric vehicles be reduced from 18% to 5%.

Hiring of electric buses (of carrying capacity of more than 12 passengers) by local authorities be exempted from GST. These changes shall become effective from 1st August, 2019.


Senior Congress leader Jaipal Reddy passes away at 77

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader S. Jaipal Reddy passed away in Hyderabad. He was 77. Reddy was admitted to the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Gachibowli with a high fever a few days back.

 Jaipal Reddy was born on January 16, 1942 in Madgul of Hyderabad. Now it belongs to Telangana state.

Mr Reddy has been a parliamentarian since 1984. During his political career, Mr Reddy served as a Lok Sabha MP five times and was elected to the Rajya Sabha two times.

Union HRD Minister inaugurates the new building of National Council for Teacher Education

Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurated the new office building of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in the national capital New Delhi.

The state-of-the-art,four-storied office building is situated in Sector 10 at Dwarka, New Delhi.The Minister took the Delhi Airport Metro Line from Shivaji Stadium to reach the venue for the inaugural ceremony.
