Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit passes away at 81

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit: Former chief minister of Delhi and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit passed away. She was 81 year old.

Sheila Dikshit was admitted to Fortis Escorts Hospital in a critical state due to a cardiac problem.

Sheila Dikshit, Delhi’s longest serving chief minister, having headed the state government for 15 years from 1998 to 2013, and a senior Congress leader.

In the December 2013 state elections, Dikshit was defeated in New Delhi constituency by Arvind Kejriwal. who replaced her as Delhi's chief minister.

Sheila Dikshit, started her political career from Uttar Pradesh as a Member of Parliament from Kannauj constituency between 1984 and 1989 and also served as a Union minister from 1986-1989.
