1. Raksha Mantri Inaugurates Ujh and Basantar Bridges in J&K
  • Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the One kilometre long Ujh bridge in Kathua district, 617.40 Metre long Basantarbridge in Samba district of Jammu & Kashmir and dedicated these to the nation.
  • One Km long Ujh bridge is the longest bridge constructed by BRO and also has the distinction where technology of Precast Segmental br with 60 m spans was used.
  • It has been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 50 crore.
  • Basantar bridge has been constructed at a total cost of approx Rs 41.7 crore.

2. Ajay Bhadoo appointed as Joint Secretary to the President Kovind
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Ajay Bhadoo as Joint Secretary to President Ram Nath Kovind.
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ajay Bhadoo, IAS (GJ:1999) as Joint Secretary to the President for a tenure co-terminus with the President.

3. Union Minister Harsh Vardhan inaugurates NSG facility at CCMB
  • Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the Next Generation Sequencing (NSG) facility at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology in Hyderabad.
  • The facility includes technology for high genome sequencing and also diagnostic sequencing of clinical samples. The state of the art machine, acquired at a cost of Rs. 8 crore can sequence 18,000 samples in 8 minutes.
  • The NSG would help prenatal genetic screening and counselling, thereby generating large scale genomic data critical for diagnosis and therapy.

4. Promotion of Fastags at Toll Plazas stressed across the country
  • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has decided to declare all lanes in all Toll Fee Plazas on National Highways across the country as dedicated ‘FASTag Lanes’ from 1st of December this year.
  • There is also a provision under the rule according to which non -FASTag users are to be charged double the fee if they pass through FASTag lanes.
  • The required civil and electronic infrastructure at all toll plazas is also to be provided before implementation date of 1st December, 2019.

5. HDFC Bank Q1 net profit rises 21% to ₹5568 crore
  • According to the HDFC Bank Ltd. its first quarter net profit rose 21% on account of higher provisions and other income.
  • The bank reported a net profit of ₹5,568.16 crore for the three months ended 30 June compared with ₹4,601.44 crore in the year-ago period.

6. Bandhan Bank’s Q1 profit jumps 45.55%
  • Private Sector Bandhan Bank said a 45.55% year-on-year rise in net profit to ₹701.14 crore in the June quarter on higher net interest income and other income.

7. Indonesia Open 2019: PV Sindhu beats Chen Yu Fei to enter Indonesia Open final
  • Indian star shuttler PV Sindhu beats Chen Yu Fei to enter the final of Indonesia Open 2019, BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament in Jakarta.
  • PV Sindhu defeated Chen Yu Fei 21-19, 21-10 in the women's singles semifinals

8. Hima Das wins gold in 400m race, 5th in a month
  • Indian ace sprinter Hima Das clinched her fifth gold medal in the month after she won the 400m race in Prague, Czech Republic.
  • Hima Das clocked the timing of 52.09 seconds to complete the race. This was her season-best timing. Her personal best timing is 50.79 seconds, recorded at the 2018 Asian Games.
