Hardeep Singh Puri Chairs Meeting Via Video Conference on Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-Udan)

Minister of State (I/C) for Civil Aviation, Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, chaired a meeting via Video Conference on Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN) with Chief Ministers, State Chief Secretaries/Advisors of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Daman & Diu.

 The North Eastern States & UTs were the first in the series of the Video Conference (VC) planned for Periodic review of RCS-UDAN scheme.

The focus of the Video Conference (VC) was to discuss and resolve issues concerning effective roll out of Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN) and take stock of progress being made.

 Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland & Zoramthanga, Chief Ministerof Mizoram were present in the meeting.

During the meeting Hardeep singh Puri said that effective implementation of UDAN is not only crucial to the growth of North Eastern states but also provide affordable aviation to the citizens.

Issues of Modernisation, expansion, development of airports and increasing connectivity in the participating States//UTs were among the various issues that were discussed.......Read More


India-Maldives MoU on Training and Capacity Building Programme for Maldivian Civil Servants operationalised

The India-Maldives MoU on Training and Capacity Building Programme for Maldivian Civil Servants was operationalised following discussions between the senior officials of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) and the Maldives Civil Service Commission today in a ceremony held at the Civil Services Commission of Maldives at Male.

An Indian delegation led by V Srinivas, Additional Secretary Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances held discussions with a Maldivian team led by Aly Shameem, the Chairman of the Civil Services Commission.

The initiative is part of a Memorandum of Understanding between India and Maldives on Training and Capacity Building Programme for Civil Servants of the archipelago nation which was operationalised on Monday after a meeting between the two sides in Male.

As part of the MoU, India will help in capacity building training for 1,000 Civil Servants of Maldives at the National Centre for Good Governance here over the next five years.

The MoU was signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi''s visit to Maldives in June this year.


4th Advance Estimates of production of major crops for 2018-19

The 4th Advance Estimates of production of major crops for 2018-19 have been released by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare on 19th August, 2019.

As per the Fourth Advance Estimates for 2018-19, total food-grain production in the country is estimated at 284.95 million tonnes which is nearly steady compared with 285.01 million tonnes of production for 2017-18, while it is higher by 19.20 million tonnes than the previous five years' (2013-14 to 2017-18) average production of food-grain.
