President Kovind inaugurates the First World Youth Conference on Kindness on Kindness


The first-ever World Youth Conference for Kindness organised by the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

The theme of the conference was ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: Gandhi for the Contemporary World: Celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.’ 

 Youth leaders, representing over 27 countries are participating in this Conference.

Moody’s cuts India GDP growth forecast to 6.2% for 2019

The credit rating agency Moody’s Investors Service has cut India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate to 6.2 per cent for financial year 2019 against its earlier projection of 6.8 per cent.

The Moody's Investors Service reduced the estimate by a similar by a similar 0.6 percentage points to 6.7% for 2020 financial year.

 According to Moody’s Indian economy had expanded by 6.9 per cent in 2017 and 7.4 per cent in 2018.

GDP growth rate had hit a five-year low of 5.8 per cent in the January-March quarter and the government is slated to announce the first quarter (April-June) growth number on August 30.

India would again become the fastest growing large economy, at least in Asia, next financial year as the Chinese GDP growth rate would come down to 5.8 per cent.......Read More


Forbes List 2019 Highest Paid Actors: Akshay Kumar World's 4th Highest Paid Actor on Forbes list, Dwayne Johnson tops

Forbes List 2019 Highest Paid Actors: Forbes Magazine has released the list of the world's 10 highest-paid actors in 2019, Bollywood super star actor Akshay Kumar has secured the fourth place with an earning of USD 65 million (approx Rs 466 crore) in June 2018.

 Akshay Kumar is the only Bollywood actor in this list.

The Forbes list 2019 highest paid actors was topped by Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock, earning USD 89.4 million (approx Rs 640 crore).

 The 'Thor' star was on the second spot with $76.4 million, followed by 'Iron Man' Robert Downey Jr. at number 3.

 Apart from these, Jackie Chan, Adam Sandler and Will Smith have also got their names registered in the list.

NITI Aayog releases Report on the Composite Water Management Index 2.0

To supplement the efforts of Jal Shakti Ministry, NITI Aayog has prepared the second Round of Composite Water Management Index (CWMI 2.0).

The Report was launched today by Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Jal Shakti, and Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog.

CWMI 2.0 ranks various states for the reference year 2017-18 as against the base year 2016-17.In the report released today, Gujarat hold on to its rank one in the reference year (2017-18), followed byAndhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

In North Eastern and Himalayan States, Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged number 1 in 2017-18 followed by Uttarakhand, Tripura and Assam.

The Union Territories have first time submitted their data and Puducherry has been declared as the top ranker. In terms of incremental change in index (over 2016-17 level), Haryana holds number one position in general States and Uttarakhand ranks at first position amongst North Eastern and Himalayan States.On an average, 80% of the states assessed on the Index over the last three years have improved their water management scores, with an average improvement of +5.2 points.


PM Narendra Modi arrives in UAE to strengthen bilateral ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday arrived in the UAE where he will discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.

PM Modi will discuss bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interest with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The UAE is the third-largest trade partner and fourth-largest exporter of crude oil for India.

PM Modi will also formally launch RuPay card to expand the network of cashless transactions abroad.

PM Modi will also receive the ‘Order of Zayed’, the highest civilian decoration conferred by the UAE government.

PM Narendra Modi's official visit to France, UAE and Bahrain between August 22 to 26.
