1. President of India Presents Bharat Ratna Awards
  • The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, presented Bharat Ratna Awards to Shri Nanaji Deshmukh (posthumously), Dr Bhupendra Kumar Hazarika (posthumously) and Shri Pranab Mukherjee at an Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (August 8, 2019).

2. India-Bangladesh Home Minister-level talks held in Delhi
  • The Seventh meeting of the India-Bangladesh Home Minister Level Talks (HMLT) was held in New Delhi. The HMLT was co-chaired by Amit Shah, Home Minister of India and Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan, Minister for Home Affairs of Bangladesh.
  • Both the Home Ministers reaffirmed the need to further curb the menace of trans-border crimes, and therefore agreed to the need for greater cooperation to achieve our aim of a secure border.

3. 22nd National Conference on e-Governance 2019 Inaugurated in Shillong
  • Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the 22nd National Conference on e-Governance 2019 (NCeG), the first ever in North East region, in Shillong, Meghalaya.

  • The NITI Aayog will launch the Fourth Edition of Women Transforming India (WTI) Awards in the capital city New Delhi.
  • The Women Transforming India (WTI) Awards is being organized in collaboration with the United Nations to recognize women entrepreneurs from across India.

  • Indian Army team has secured the first position followed by Kazakhstan & Russian Army teams in Stage 1 of the ongoing International Army Scout Masters Competition being held at Jaisalmer.
  • Seven countries Army teams from viz Armenia, Belarus, China, Uzbekistan, Russia, Sudan, Kazakhstan are participating in the Fifth Edition of Army International Scout Masters competition being held for the first time in India from 05 to 16 August 2019.
