Army chief General Rawat takes over as Chairman of chiefs of Staff Committee

Army chief General Bipin Rawat will take over as the new Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC)He succeed Indian Air Force (IAF) chief, Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa, who retired from service by the end of this month.

The Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) comprises chiefs of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force and the senior most member is appointed its chairperson.

Outgoing COSC Chairman, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, handed over the baton to General Rawat in a ceremonial function in South Block.

The Air Chief Marshal was appointed as Chairman, COSC on May 31, 2019. Under his stewardship, the Services progressed jointmanship and integration on a number of fronts in synchronisation with the motto ‘Victory through Jointness'.

General Rawat, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), had been commissioned into the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Army. He has vast experience in operations across a wide spectrum of conflict and terrain profiles.

As the next Chairman COSC, General Rawat is focused to operationalise the appointment of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), enhance Tri-Service integration, stimulate simultaneous growth of the Services, rapid operationalisation and synchronisation of modern war fighting capabilities to ensure that the Armed Forces are well aligned to the future......Read More


Indo-Kazakhstan Joint Military Exercise KAZIND - 2019


The exercise will comprise of nearly 100 soldiers from both Indian and Kazakhstan Army who would be sharing their experience gained during conduct of various counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations in the past.

 Exercise KAZIND-2019 is the fourth edition of an annual event which is conducted alternatively in Kazakhstan and India.

The aim of this exercise is to conduct company level joint training with emphasis on counter terrorism operations in mountainous terrain. During the exercise, aspects of emerging trends of global terrorism and hybrid warfare have also been included.

Renuka Singh to Inaugurate Aadi Mahotsav in Noida

Renuka Singh, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs will inaugurate National Tribal Festival “Aadi Mahotsav” being organised by Ministry of Tribal Affairs at India Expo Centre, Sector-62, Noida (UP) in the presence of Deepal Khandekar, Secretary, Tribal Affairs and R.C. Meena, Chairman, TRIFED.

The scheme of the festival is: A celebration of the spirit of Tribal Culture, Craft, Cuisine and Commerce. The festival will feature exhibition-cum-sale of tribal handicrafts, art, paintings fabric, jewellery and much more through 70 stalls.

 Over 200 tribal artisans and artists from different states creating a Mini-India will be participating in the festival.

The traditional tribal jewellery, Dokra Carft, Cane-Bamboo and also the items of attraction. The tribal handicrafts will be sold through 70-100 stalls under the tribes banner by tribal artisans.

TRIBES India has signed the MoUs with Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart, PayTM and GEM, a government of India portal for e-commerce of the tribal products. .......Read More
