Indian Railways launches 9 ‘Sewa Service’ Trains to connect smaller towns around major cities


These services were launched by the Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal along with Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan, from New Delhi by inaugurating Delhi-Shamli passenger train.

Other trains were flagged off through video-conferencing connected to the terminal stations where these trains are to start. These Sewa trains will provide connectivity to the far-flung areas where stoppages of premiere trains were not possible.

Sewa Service’ trains have been planned with spare rakes as a part of ‘sweating of assets’ initiative by the Indian Railways to have better utilization of the rolling stock.........Read More

‘Dilli Series’ Sea Power Seminar - 2019: Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala will host the prestigious Dilli Series Sea Power Seminar on 17th and 18th of October 2019. The theme for this year’s seminar is “Role of Sea Power in Shaping of Nations”.

The seminar will be covered under three sub – themes, Sea Power Vs Land Power – A Historical Perspective, Sea Power and Geo Economics and Centrality of Sea Power to Global Politics.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh inaugurates 41st DRDO Directors’ Conference

41st DRDO Directors’ Conference: Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 41st DRDO Directors’ Conference at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi. The Conference is an annual event, where a number of brainstorming sessions are planned over two days.

The inaugural function of the conference was also attended among others by National Security Advisor Shri Ajit Doval, Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria.


The theme for 41st DRDO Directors’ Conference is Technology leadership for empowering India, in line with the requirement to develop indigenous systems with advanced technologies.


Raksha Mantri also released two compendia namely the DRDO-Industry Partnership: Synergy and Growth and DRDO Products with Potential for Export. Over 50 Lakh Benefit under Ayushman Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the efforts made in the health sector as India achieved a major milestone of providing benefit to over 50 Lakh people under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

Launched exactly a year ago in 2018, Ayushman Bharat is the world's largest health insurance scheme, which aims to provide easy access to medical facilities to over 10.74 Crore poor people in the country.

Under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya (PM-JAY), 16,085 Hospitals have been empanelled and over 10 Crore e-Cards issued.

Nearly 17,150 Health & Wellness Centers have become operational across the country under Ayushman Bharat.



RBI imposes Rs 1 crore fine on Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Rs 75 lakh on Syndicate Bank for violating norms

The Reserve Bank has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1 crore on Lakshmi Vilas Bank and Rs 75 lakh on Syndicate Bank for violating asset classification and fraud detection norms.

According to the RBI said in a release, "The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated October 14, 2019, imposed monetary penalty of Rs 1 crore on Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd for non-compliance with certain provisions of directions issued by RBI on ‘Income Recognition and Asset Classification (IRAC) norms".


Retail inflation rises to 3.99% in September at the highest level of 14 months

India's Retail inflation based on consumer price index accelerated to a 14-month high of 3.99 per cent in September against 3.28 per cent in August, government data showed on 14th October.

The consumer price index (CPI) based inflation was registered at 3.28 percent in August. On a year-on-year basis, the inflation was 3.70 percent in the September 2018.

On year-on-year (yoy) basis, the inflation was 3.70 per cent in the September 2018. Food price inflation in September came at 5.11 per cent against 2.99 per cent in August.

The inflation print for vegetables shot up to 15.40 per cent during the month from 6.9 per cent. Besides, price rise in pulses and meat and fish baskets for the reported month was higher over August.



Amit Shah Chief Guest on the 35th Raising Day Ceremony of National Security Guard (NSG)

Union Minister for Home Affairs, Amit Shah presided over as Chief Guest on the 35th Raising Day Ceremony of National Security Guard (NSG), at NSG HQ in Manesar, Gurugram on 15th Oct.

The Home Minister viewed a splendid display of the preparedness of the NSG to tackle any terror attack against the country, during the event.

During the event, Shri Shah also presented medals for gallantry and exemplary service to NSG commandos and their family members.
