Harsh Vardhan launches Food Safety Mitra (FSM) scheme for scaling up ‘Eat Right India’ movement

On 16th Oct. the occasion of World Food Day, The theme for this day was ‘Healthy Diets for a Zero Hunger World’. To mark the occasion, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan also launched the ‘Food Safety Mitra (FSM)’ scheme, along with the ‘Eat Right Jacket’, and ‘Eat Right Jhola’ to strengthen food safety administration and scale up the ‘Eat Right India’ movement.

 The initiative is aimed at scaling up the government's 'Eat Right India' movement.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced scheme of Food Safety Mitra (FSM) through which it plans to engage motivated individuals with food safety ecosystem at ground level.
A FSM is an individual professional certified by FSSAI who assists in compliances related to FSS Act, Rules & Regulations with three avatars- Digital Mitra, Trainer Mitra and Hygiene Mitra depending upon their respective roles and responsibilities.

 During the event, the Minister also launched Eat Right Jhola which is a reusable, washable and bio-degradable bag.

The 'Eat Right Jacket' launched will be used by the field staff. This jacket has a smart design to hold tech devices such as tablets/smartphone, a QR code and RFID tag for identification and tracking.

FSSAI has partnered with the Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council (DWSSC) under the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship to launch a training course for domestic workers and homemakers across the country.......Read More



J.P.S. Chawla assumes charge as new Controller General of Accounts


Government of India has appointed J. P. S. Chawla, 1985-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) Officer as the new Controller General of Accounts (CGA), Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure with effect from October 15, 2019 on regular basis. J. P. S. Chawla has however been officiating as CGA with effect from September 1, 2019.


About J.P.S. Chawla

 J.P.S. Chawla is a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi.

He has worked for four years with the Public Sector Engineering Enterprise, Engineers India Limited (EIL), prior to joining the Civil Services.

During his 34-year career he has held various cadre posts at different levels in a number of Ministries/Departments with Prasar Bharti, Urban Development, Civil Aviation & Tourism and Agriculture to name a few.

He has also served on deputation with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and served as Director (Finance) in the Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited (IPGCL) and Pragati Power Limited (PPL).

Arjun Munda launches Van Dhan Internship Programme of TRIFED

Van Dhan Internship Programme of TRIFED: Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs launched the “Van Dhan Internship Programme” organised by TRIFED under Ministry of Tribal Affairs in New Delhi. Pravin Krishna, MD, TRIFED was present on the occasion.

P. C. Sharma takes charge as Member Materials Management Railway Board

P.C. Sharma has taken over as Member (Material Management), Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to Govt. of India on 11th October, 2019.

Prior to this, Sharma worked as General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata from 20th September 2018 to 10th October, 2019. He is an Indian Railways Stores Services (IRSS) officer of 1981 batch.

During his long career, P.C. Sharma has held several important assignments in Railways including Principal Chief Materials Manager, Western Railway, Mumbai, Chief Materials Manager in Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, Northern Railway, Railway Electrification, Allahabad and as Executive Director in Railway Board during the period from 1986 to 2013.


He has a wide experience of having worked as Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Nanded from 2013 to 2015. Shri Sharma started his career in North Eastern Railway, Gorakhpur in 1983.

RBI imposes Rs 3 crore penalty on SBM Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a Rs 3 crore penalty on SBM Bank (India) for non-compliance of regulatory norms by SBM Bank (Mauritius), which amalgamated with the former in November 2018.

According to the RBI official statement, "The penalty has been imposed for non-compliance by SBM Bank (Mauritius) with certain provisions of directions issued by the central bank on 'Time-bound implementation and strengthening of SWIFT - related operational controls' and 'Cyber Security Framework in Banks".
