Justice S A Bobde appointed as the 47th Chief Justice of India (CJI), President Kovind signs warrant

The 47th Chief Justice of India (CJI): President Ram Nath Kovind, signed a warrant appointing Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde appointed as the 47th Chief Justice of India (CJI).

Justice Bobde will take oath as CJI on November 18.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi recommended by writing a letter of appointment for second senior most judge Justice S A Bobde as the next Chief Justice of India.

Justice S A Bobde term will end on 23 April, 2021.

Who is the 47th appointed as the 47th Chief Justice of India (CJI), S A Bobde 

The 63-year old Bobde was born in Maharashtra on 24 April, 1955.  His father Arvind Bobde was the advocate-general of Maharashtra and his elder brother late Vinod Arvind Bobde a renowned senior advocate of the Supreme Court.

A judge since 2000, he joined the Bombay High Court as an additional judge. He was nominated by the 39th Chief Justice Altamas Kabir as the Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice in October 2012. In April 2013, he was elevated to Supreme Court by Kabir.
