1. PM Narendra Modi unveils the book “Bridgital Nation”
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the book “Bridgital Nation” and presented its first copy to Ratan Tata in an event organized at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. The book has been written by N Chandrasekaran and Ms. Roopa Purushottam.
  • The book presents a powerful vision of the future where technology and human beings co-exist in a mutually beneficial ecosystem. It argues that instead of accepting technology as replacement of human labour, India can use it as an aid to generate more jobs.

2. ECI appoints Vinod Zutshi as Special Observer for Assandh AC Elections
  • Election Commission of India has appointed Vinod Zutshi ( former IAS Raj Retd), former Deputy Election Commissioner ECI and Secretary Tourism, as Special Observer for the ensuing Elections to 23 – Assandh Assembly Constituency of Karnal District in Haryana in light of the video circulating on social media. Zutshi has been requested to proceed immediately to the Constituency to take necessary corrective action and ensure free, fair and peaceful election.

3. Most Eminent Senior Citizen Award' to former Attorney General K Parasaran
  • Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today presented Most Eminent Senior Citizen Award to legal luminary and former Attorney General K. Parasaran at a function in New Delhi.
  • Mr Parasaran was honoured with the award on the occasion of the Elder’s Day celebration of Age Care India, an organization working for the welfare of the elderly.

4. 2nd edition of Naval Commanders’ Conference 2019 from 22 to 24 Oct
  • The second edition of Naval Commanders' Conference of 2019 is scheduled at New Delhi from 22 to 24 Oct 19.
  • The conference is the apex level biannual event for interaction between the Naval Commanders for deliberation and formulation of important policy decisions.

5. IRCTC to make stock market debut
  • Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which recently concluded its Rs 645-crore initial public offering, will make its stock market debut on Monday. The shares will be listed on the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

6. Minister G Kishan Reddy begins 3-day visit to North East State Assam and Manipur
  • The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G. Kishan Reddy begins his 3-day visit to Assam and Manipur. He reached Guwahati (Assam) and started the trip by offering prayers at the Kamakhya temple for the peace and prosperity of the region.
  • Reddy met the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and reviewed the progress of development projects supported by the Union Government. He also discussed the security situation in the state with the Chief Minister.

7. Union Minister Prahlad Singh will inaugurate CCRT e-portal and YouTube Channel
  • Union Minister of state for Culture & Tourism (IC) Prahalad Singh will attend the “Digital Bharat – Digital Sanskriti” program organised by Rashtriya Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (Ministry of Culture) on 21st October at CCRT Head Quarter located at Dwarka, Delhi. 
  • With an aim to take India to a newer digital pinnacle and to promote our culture Union Minister will inaugurate CCRT e-portal and YouTube Channel (with support from Routes 2 Routes).

8. India vs South Africa 3rd Test: Rohit Sharma breaks Don Bradman's 71-year-old record
  • India vs South Africa 3rd Test: Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma surpassed former Australia cricketer Don Bradman's record of highest average in Test cricket on home soil.
  • He has an average of 99.84 now. Don Bradman had an average of 98.22.
  • Rohit Sharma became the fourth player and third Indian to score double hundreds in both Test and ODIs. Rohit emulated fellow Indians Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.
