ADB, India Sign USD 91 Million Loan for Comprehensive Water Management in Karnataka

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $91 million loan to modernize the Vijayanagara Channel irrigation systems and prepare river basin management plans in the Krishna river basin that will help improve irrigation water use efficiency and contribute to improving sustainable water security in Karnataka.

The investment program will help Government of Karnataka in strengthening its institutions involved in integrated water resource management and modernizing the irrigation system infrastructure for improving water use efficiency in the State.


The project interventions are also tackling inefficient water use in agriculture that accounts for over 84% of the state’s total water use. This will improve water availability to meet the rising demand from other users in the state......Read More



Roar of the Sea: Joint Exercise between the Qatari Emiri Navy and the Indian Navy Forces

Indian Navy Guided Missile Stealth Frigate INS Trikand and Patrol Aircraft P8-I arrived at Doha for the inaugural edition of the Bilateral Maritime Exercise Za’ir-Al-Bahr (Roar of the Sea) being conducted from 17 to 21 Nov 19 between the Indian Navy and Qatari Emiri Naval Forces. Za'ir-Al-Bahr 2019 would strengthen cooperation and enhance interoperability between the two navies.


About Roar of the Sea Joint Exercise:

The Exercise will include a three-day Harbour Phase and Two days Sea Phase. The activities during the harbour phase will include a seminar, professional interaction, official visits, sports fixtures along with social and cultural events. The Sea Phase will include a Tactical Maritime Exercise involving the domains of Surface Action, Air Defence, Maritime Surveillance and Interdiction Operation and anti-terrorism.

Indian Railways launches “Heritage Week” Special Tour Package from Mumbai to Ahmedabad

On the occasion of World Heritage Week 2019 being observed from 19th to 25th November 2019, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited, the tourism arm of Indian Railways is launching “Heritage Week” Special Tour Package ex Mumbai starting from 22nd to 25th November 2019.

The tour is being operated by IRCTC, West Zone Office, Mumbai. The unique feature of the package is that it will explore the heritage and culture of Gujarat.


The tour will cover the UNESCO World Heritage Site of “Rani ki Vav” and famous “Modhera Sun Temple”. The heritage precinct of Ahmedabad City will also be covered as part of this tour.
