Delhi Aadi Mahotsav to be organised at Dilli Haat between 16th to 30th November

The Delhi Aadi Mahotsav will be organised at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi between 16th to 30th November, 2019. The inaugural ceremony will be graced by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah as Chief Guest and the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda will preside.

The Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Smt. Renuka Singh Saruta will be the Guest of Honour. This was announced by Pravin Krishna, MD, TRIFED at a press conference in New Delhi.

Theme of the Delhi Aadi Mahotsav 2019: 

The theme of the festival is “a Celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Crafts, Culture and Commerce”, which represents the basic ethos of tribal life. The festival, will feature exhibition-cum-sale of tribal handicrafts, art, paintings, fabric, jewellery and much more through 200 stalls to showcase this.

Participate by:   

Over 1000 tribal artisans and artists from 27 States will be participating in the festival. The event will be marked by mesmerizing performances and cultural shows, showcasing the products of tribal artisans based on the tribal rituals, harvest, festivals, martial art forms etc., from 20 States of the country. The performances from different States shall be showcasing rich tribal cultural diversity like never-seen-before during the course of the event.

Prime Minister Modi to participate in East Asia and RCEP Summit in Bangkok


The agenda for this edition of the summit was to review the future direction of East Asia Summit co-operation and exchange views on regional and international issues.

Besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe on the margins of India-ASEAN and East Asia Summit 2019 at Bangkok on 04 November 2019.

The two leaders have met with each other thrice in the last about four months, and their previous meeting was in Vladivostok in September 2019.

Women Scientists’ & Entrepreneurs’ Conclave held in Kolkata

 The Women Scientists’ and Entrepreneurs’ Conclave of the India International Science Festival (IISF) at Kolkata.

The third edition of women scientists’ conclave to be organized on November 7-8, 2019 at Biswa Bangla Convention Center is an effort to inspire young women to take up careers in Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship and help them get exposed to opportunities in the field.

 The Conclave aims to develop scientific temper among enthusiastic students to uplift Indian science in its highest rank.

India not to join Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership free trade agreement

India decides not to join Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) free trade deal as negotiations failed to address New Delhi's concerns.

PM Modi tells RCEP agreement does not reflect its original intent and that the outcome is not fair or balanced.

According to the free trade agreement, the regulations for import and export of goods will be eased. Under this agreement, the member states will have to reduce taxes and build an ecosystem conducive to trade.

The objective of launching RCEP negotiations was to achieve a modern, comprehensive, high-quality, and mutually beneficial economic partnership agreement among the ASEAN member states and its FTA partners.

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is a proposed free-trade agreement (FTA) among 16 countries.



Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh chairs Ambassadors’ Round-table on DefExpo 2020

The Ministry of Defence organised Ambassadors’ Round Table conference on DefExpo 2020, chaired by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.

The Round Table was aimed to brief the representatives of foreign missions based in New Delhi about the arrangements being made for DefEpo and elicit suggestions from them to further improve the experience.

Heads of Missions and Defence Attaches of over 80 countries participated in the conference indicating the growing stature of the 11th mega biennial event, to be held in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow from February 5-8, 2020.

The Union Minister of Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the Mission Innovation (MI) Face to Face meeting of Innovation Challenges(IC) in New Delhi.

The objective of the meeting is to take stock of the deliverables by MI and its plans until 2020. Another major objective is to identify major gap areas in Clean Energy Innovation and how to address these beyond 2020 to make MI more impactful.



Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship launches Skills Build platform in Collaboration with IBM

Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the aegis of Ministry of Skills Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), announced the launch of SkillsBuild platform in collaboration with IBM.

As part of the programme, a two-year advanced diploma in IT, networking and cloud computing, co-created and designed by IBM, will be offered at the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) & National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs).

The platform will be extended to train ITI & NSTI faculty on building skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI). SkillsBuild offers digital learning content from IBM and partners such as CodeDoor, Coorpacademy and Skillsoft.

The digital platform will provide a personal assessment of the cognitive capabilities and personality via MyInnerGenius to the students. They will then learn foundational knowledge about digital technologies, as well as professional skills such as resume-writing, problem solving and communication. Students will also receive recommendations on role-based education for specific jobs that include technical and professional learning.



Commerce & Industry Minister to launch curtain raiser of GES 2019

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways, Piyush Goyal, will launch the curtain raiser of 5th Global Exhibition on Services (GES) in New Delhi on 5th November 2019. The exhibition will be held in Bengaluru from 26th – 28th November 2019.

The curtain raiser will be a prelude to the main GES and showcase the planned activities over the span of three days of Global Exhibition on Services 2019 and the expected outcomes of the exhibition.

The event is expected to be attended by the heads of foreign diplomatic missions in India, line ministries, Indian State Governments, associations and private service industry players from around 100 countries.

This initiative will enhance the competitiveness of India's service sectors through the implementation of focused and monitored Action Plans.
