M S Swaminathan presented with ‘Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu National Award’ for his contribution to agriculture

Eminent Agricultural Scientist Dr M S Swaminathan was presented the ‘MuppavarapuVenkaiah Naidu National Award for Excellence’ for his distinguished contribution to the field of agriculture.

 The Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu presented him the award during the Pongal Celebrations held at Raj Bhavan in Chennai.

The Award instituted by the Muppavarapu Foundation was announced recently during its 10th anniversary celebrations in Hyderabad. It carries a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs and a citation.......Read More

India and Bangladesh signs key agreements in Information and Broadcasting sector

India and Bangladesh signed key agreements in the field of Information and Broadcasting at the Information and Broadcasting Ministers meet 2020, in New Delhi.

The MoU Signed by: 

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar and his Bangladeshi counterpart Muhammad H Mahmud a formal co-production agreement was signed on the biopic of “BangaBandhu”, Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, which will be released during the birth centenary year of Bangabandhu.

Bangladesh has decided to celebrate the ‘Mujib Year’ from March 17, 2020 to March 17, 2021 to mark the centenary year of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first President of Bangladesh.......Read More 


Indian Railways to provide Content on Demand Service (CoD) on Trains and Stations

Content on Demand (CoD) will soon be available in all Premium/Express/Mail trains and Suburban trains of Indian RailwaysWith an aim to generate more non fare revenue, Railway Board had entrusted RailTel, a miniratna PSU under Ministry of Railways, with providing the Content on Demand service to passengers in trains.

In this project, RailTel will provide various preloaded multilingual content (Movies, Music Videos, General Entertainment, Lifestyle etc) in moving trains through media servers installed in trains.......Read More

From January 2021, jewellers sell only 14, 18 and 22 carat gold jewelry

The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan held a press conference regarding mandatory hallmarking of Gold jewelry & artefacts in India for which notification will be issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs providing a period of one year for implementation i.e. till January, 2021.

Minister Ram Vilas Paswan informed, jewellers can sell only hallmarked jewellery and artefacts made of 14, 18 and 22 carat gold from January 15, 2021 and violation of this will attract penalty and imprisonment of one year.

The government has given the jewelers one year to register with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and implement mandatory hallmarking.



SCR of Indian Railways and SBI sign MoU for Doorstep Banking covering all 585 Stations of the Zone

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between South Central Zone of Indian Railways and State Bank of India for Doorstep Banking for direct pickup of earnings covering all 585 Railway stations over SCR Zone.

The direct pick up of cash from all the railway stations on SCR as per the MoU dispenses with the tedious and complex activity of movement of cash earnings through “Cash Safes” by trains. This will enable hassle free collection of traffic earnings by SBI and remittance into Government account avoiding delay in transmission of traffic cash earnings.
