1. President Kovind Presents 14th Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards
- The President of India Ram Nath Kovind, presented the 14th Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
- President Ram Nath Kovind said that the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards honour those journalists from print, broadcast and digital media who have maintained the highest standards of their profession and, despite immense challenges, produced work that sustains public trust in the media and impacts the lives of people.
2. 7th Meeting of Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure strengthens trade held in New Delhi
- The seventh annual meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure took place on 16th and 17th January 2020 in New Delhi with around 80 participants.
- Germany and India established the Working Group in 2013 to strengthen their economic and technical cooperation, reduce technical barriers to trade, and increase product safety.
3. PM Narendra Modi, Nepalese PM K P Sharma Oli jointly Inaugurate Integrated Check Post at Jogbani-Biratnagar
- The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Sharma Oli jointly inaugurated the second Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Jogbani - Biratnagar.
- Jogbani – Biratnagar is an important trade point between the two countries. The ICP is equipped with modern facilities.

- Eminent Sindhi writer Vasdev Mohi will be conferred with 29th Saraswati Samman. He has been selected for this prestigious literary award for his short stories collection- Chequebook.

- Vasdev Mohi has also received the Sahitya Akademi Award.
5. Andhra Pradesh Assembly passes bill to establish three capitals
- Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly passed a bill proposing three capitals, Legislative, Executive and Judicial for the state.
- Visakhapatnam is proposed to be the Executive capital, Amaravati Legislative capital and Kurnool will be the Judicial capital.
6. Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to inaugurate NIC TechConclave 2020
- The Union Minister for Law & Justice, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad to inaugurate the 2nd edition of ‘NIC TechConclave 2020’, a two-day event being organized by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on 21st January.
- This year’s theme is ‘Technologies for NextGen Governance’.
7. Printing process for Union General Budget 2020-21 commences with Halwa Ceremony
- The Halwa ceremony, marking the commencement of Budget printing process for Union General Budget 2020-21, was held in New Delhi. The presence of the Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.
- Union General Budget 2020-21 is to be presented on 1st February, 2020.
8. Minister Mandaviya proceeds on Four-day official visit to Davos to attend Annual World Economic Forum (WEF) Meeting
- The Union Minister of State for Shipping (Independent Charge) Mansukh Mandaviya is attending the 50th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting being held at Davos, Switzerland from 21st -24th January 2020.
- During his stay in Davos, the Minister will meet the various leaders of Industry, Investors and Entrepreneurs from around the world.
9. Delhi Assembly Elections: Today is last day for filing nominations for Delhi Polls
- Today is the last day for filing nominations for Delhi Assembly Elections.
- Election for 70 Assembly seats will be held on the 8th of next month. Counting of votes will be taken up on 11th February.
10. JP Nadda elected as National President of Bharatiya Janata Party
- Senior BJP leader and former cabinet minister Jagat Prakash Nadda was elected unopposed as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
- JP Nadda has been elected the 11th National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. JP Nadda will replace Amit Shah.
- He was also the Cabinet Minister in the first tenure of the Narendra Modi Government.
