1. GST Revenue Collection Crosses 1 lakh Crore for December 2019: Finance Ministry
  • The gross GST (Goods and Services Tax) revenue collection for December 2019 has crossed Rs 1-lakh crore.
  • The gross GST revenue collected in the month of December, 2019 is ₹ 1,03,184 crore of which CGST is ₹ 19,962 crore, SGST is ₹ 26,792 crore, IGST is ₹ 48,099 crore (including ₹ 21,295 crore collected on imports) and Cess is ₹ 8,331 crore (including ₹ 847 crore collected on imports).


2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi to distribute Krishi Karman Awards
  • The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute Krishi Karman Awards and Commendation Awards to states at a public meeting in Tumkur Karnataka on Thursday, 2.1.2020. He will also give away Agriculture Minister’s Krishi Karman Awards for Progressive Farmers.
  • The event will also witness the release of the 3rd installment of PM Kisan (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) of Rs 2000 for the period December 2019-March 2020. This will benefit approximately 6 crore beneficiaries.


3. Air Marshal Vibhas Pande assumes charge as Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance
  • Air Marshal Vibhas Pande has taken over as Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance of Indian Air Force with effect from 01 Jan 2020.
  • Air Officer was commissioned as Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) in IAF on 29 Aug 1984. He started his career as an Engineering Officer in IAF with fighter aircraft and later also gained experience in maintenance operations on transport aircraft and helicopters.


4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Karnataka on 2nd and 3rd January 2020
  • The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will visit Karnataka on 2nd and 3rd January 2020.
  • At Tumkur, He will visit the Sree Siddaganga Mutt, where he will unveil a plaque to mark the laying of Foundation Stone for a memorial museum of Shri Shri Shivakumar Swamiji.
  • He will distribute Krishi Karman Awards and Commendation Awards to states and Krishi Karman Awards for Progressive Farmers in Tumkur.


5. Air Marshal MSG Menon assumes charge as Air Officer-in-Charge Administration
  • Air Marshal MSG Menon VSM takes over as Air Officer-in-Charge Administration of Indian Air Force with effect from 01 Jan 2020.
  • Air Marshal MSG Menon VSM was commissioned in the Administrative branch of IAF in Dec 1982. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Calicut University.
  • He has undergone a Higher Air Command Course from the College of Air Warfare.


6. 28 UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendras operational across the country
  • The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has opened 28 Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASK) as part of its plan to open 114 stand-alone Aadhaar Enrollments & Update Centres across the country.
  • These are in addition to about 38,000 Aadhaar enrollment centers run by Banks, Post Offices and State Governments.


7. Vinod Kumar Yadav assumes charge as Chairman, Railway Board on reappointment for a period of one year
  • Vinod Kumar Yadav, IRSEE (1980 Batch) has assumed charge after being reappointed as Chairman, Railway Board, in the rank of Ex-Officious Principal Secretary to Government of India.
  • The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved re-employment of Vinod Kumar Yadav as Chairman, Railway Board for a period of one year,

  • Indian delegation was headed by DG BSF Vivek Johri and Bangladesh delegation was headed by DG of BGB Maj Gen Md Shafeenul Islam.
