Rs. 99.99 crore released to States/UTs for setting up 651 fast track special courts 

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 provides for establishment of Special Courts for trying the offences under the POCSO Act. The POCSO Act has adequate provisions to ensure that child-friendly procedures are adopted by Special Courts during the trial.

Section 44 (1) of the POCSO Act provides that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) shall monitor the implementation of the provisions of the POCSO Act. As per information provided by NCPCR there are 664 Special Courts established across the country till 30th June, 2019.


Besides, as informed by Department of Justice, an amount of Rs.99.99 crore has been released to 28 States/UTs for setting up of 651 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) including 363 POCSO courts.

TRIFED Launches transformational “Tech For Tribals” program to develop Tribal entrepreneurship 

A game changing and unique project aimed to transform 5 crore Tribal Entrepreneurs under the name “Tech for Tribal” has been launched by TRIFED. It was launched on19th March 2020 by TRIFED and IIT-Kanpur along with IIT-Roorkee, IIM Indore, Kalinga Institute of Social Science, Bhubaneshwar and SRIJAN, Jaipurin the first phase of organising tribal entrepreneurship and skill development program.

Under the Tech for Tribals program, the Partners will develop course contents relevant to Entrepreneurship in Value Addition and Processing of Forest Produces. The course curriculum will include Achievement Motivation and positive psychology, Entrepreneurial Competencies, Identification of locally available NTFP based Business Opportunities, Round the Year capacity utilization, Product positioning - Grading / Sorting, Branding, Packaging, Product certifications, Bankable Project Report preparation, Market Survey, Business Plan Preparation, Distribution Channels- Retail sales, supply contracts with manufacturers, Good Manufacturing Practice(GMP), Total Quality Control(TQC), Hygienic Operations management, Operational and Financial statements, Business Strategy & Growth, Digital literacy & IT adoption, etc.


EPFO advises Beneficiaries to avail Online Services to contain spreading of COVID-19

In view of Government of India guidelines to contain spreading of COVID-19, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) advises it members, pensioners and employers to avail various online services offered by EPFO, from the comfort of their homes, and to avoid visiting EPFO offices.

Most of the services of EPFO are available online.  An employee can generate his/her own Universal Account Number (UAN), activate his/her UAN and seed it with Aadhaar, PAN, Bank Account and mobile number (KYC seeding). Employee can also make nominations, view balance in the passbook, update his/her date of exit, transfer his/her account from unexempted to exempted establishment and vice-versa.  Employees have been further empowered to raise claims online for Provident Fund advances or final withdrawal; pension or Insurance benefits (EDLI) and receive payment of PF/Pension/Insurance benefits directly in his/her bank account.

Similarly, a pensioner can download his/her Pension Payment Order (PPO) or preserve it in Digilocker; know his PPO number with the help of his/her bank account number or UAN and view passbook.  Pensioners can also update Jeevan Praman (Digital Life Certificate) online any time of the year.

These facilities are available also on UMANG App. of Government of India, so one can access these online services from his/her mobile too on UMANG App.


COVID-19: Task Force to deal with economic challenges in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi advises citizens to avoid panic buying, assures availability of necessary items.

To deal with the economic challenges caused by the pandemic, Prime Minister announced the creation of ‘COVID-19 Economic Response Task Force’ under the Union Finance Minister. The Task Force will consult stakeholders, take feedback, on the basis of which decisions will be taken to meet the challenges. The Task Force will also ensure implementation of the decisions taken to meet these challenges.

Prime Minister also urged the business community and higher income groups to look after the economic needs of those from lower income groups, from whom they take various services, urging them not to cut their salary on the days they are unable to render the services due to inability to come to the workplace. He stressed on the importance of humanity during such times.

He also assured the countrymen that there would not be any shortage of essential items like food, milk, medicines etc. He urged people to not resort to panic buying.


COVID-19: No international flight for one week in India 

The Central Government takes important measures in fight against Coronavirus, bans arrival international commercial flights into India for one week starting from March 22nd.
