1. Education Minister Nishank releases eight-week alternative academic calendar for secondary stage: Highlights with Details
  • Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has released an 8-week alternative academic calendar.
  • The alternative academic calendars for students, parents and teachers for all the classes 9th to 12th has been developed by the NCERT under the guidance of the Ministry of Education.
  • Alternative Academic Calendar (AAC) for four weeks and next eight weeks for primary and upper primary stages had already been released.


2. Prime Minister Modi inaugurates various projects under 'Namami Gange' yojana and 'AMRUT' yojana in Bihar
  • The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated various projects under 'Namami Gange' Yojana and 'AMRUT' Yojana in Bihar. Four schemes inaugurated today include sewerage treatment plants at Beur and Karam-Leechak in Patna city, as well as water-related projects in Siwan and Chhapra under the 'AMRUT' Yojana. Apart from this, foundation stones were laid today for water supply projects in Munger and Jamalpur and River Front Development Scheme under Namami Gange in Muzaffarpur.


3. Cabinet approves establishment of new AIIMS at Darbhanga, Bihar: Quick Highlights 
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has approved establishment of a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Darbhanga, Bihar. This will be established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). New AIIMS will add 750 hospital beds.
  • The total cost will be Rs.1264 crore and is likely to be completed within a period of 48 months from the date of the approval of Government of India.


4. Cabinet approves Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project from Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna-Manesar- Kharkhauda
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project from Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna-Manesar-Kharkhauda.
  • This Rail Line will start from Palwal and end at existing Harsana Kalan station (On Delhi-Ambala section). This will also give connectivity enroute to existing Patli Station (On Delhi-Rewari line), Sultanpur station (On Garhi Harsaru-Farukhnagar Line) and Asaudha Station (On Delhi Rohtak Line).


5. Harivansh Narayan Singh re-elected as Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, Defeated Opposition candidate Manoj Jha
  • NDA candidate, Harivansh Narayan Singh has been elected as Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. He has been elected to this post for the second time.
  • Harivansh Narayan Singh defeated Opposition candidate Manoj Jha.
