India, ADB sign USD 177 million loan for state road improvements in Maharashtra  

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $177 million loan to upgrade 450 kilometers (km) of state highways and major district roads in the state of Maharashtra.

The MoU Signed by

The signatories to the Maharashtra State Road Improvement Project were Shri Sameer Kumar Khare, Additional Secretary (Fund Bank and ADB), Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance who signed for the Government of India, and Mr. Kenichi Yokoyama, Country Director of ADB’s India Resident Mission who signed for ADB.

Benefits

The project will improve connectivity between rural areas and urban centres in the state enabling rural communities to better access markets, employment opportunities and services. Malabar 2020 Naval Exercise: Highlights with Details 

The Malabar series of Naval exercises started in 1992 as a bilateral Indian Navy-US Navy exercise. Japan joined the Naval exercise in 2015. This annual exercise has been conducted off the coast of Guam in the Philippine Sea in 2018, off the coast the Japan in 2019 and is expected to be held in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea later this year.

As India Seeks to increase cooperation with other countries in the maritime security domain and in the light of increased defence cooperation with Australia, Malabar 2020 will see the participation of the Australian Navy.

Chief of Army Staff Manoj Mukund Naravane Visits Ambala Cantonment 

The Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane visited Ambala Cantonment on 19 October 2020 to review the security and operational preparedness of Kharga Corps.

The COAS was briefed by the General Officer Commanding, Lieutenant General SS Mahal and later interacted with formation Commanders. He commended the formation for high level of operational preparedness and appreciated the protection measures taken by the formation and units in the fight against COVID-19. He exhorted all ranks to continue working with zeal and be prepared for any future operational challenges. The Chief of Army Staff also visited Ambala Air Force Base and lauded the synergy amongst the forces.


Minister Gadkari to lay foundation stone for country's first multi-modal logistic park in Assam 

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkariwill virtually lay the foundation stone for the first-ever multi-modal logistic park in Assam on 20th October 2020.

The event will bepresided over by the Chief Minister Shri SarbanandaSonowal, and will be attended by and Union MoSs Dr Jitendra Singh, Gen (Retd) Dr V K Singh and Shri RameshwarTeli, Ministers from the State, Members of Parliaments, MLAs and senior officers from the Centre and the State.

The Rs 693.97 crore park will provide direct connectivity to air, road, rail and waterways to the people. It will be developed under the ambitious BharatmalaPariyojana of the Government of India.


NITI Aayog & AWS Launch Frontier Technologies Cloud Innovation Center in India

NITI Aayog announced the establishment of a Frontier Technologies Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) with Amazon Web Services (AWS)—the first of its kind in India.

This CIC is part ofthe AWS CIC Global Program, which provides an opportunity for government agencies, non-profits, and educational institutions, to come together on pressing challenges, apply design thinking, test new ideas, and access the technology expertise of AWS.

The NITI Aayog Frontier Technologies Cloud Innovation Center will enable government stakeholders, start-ups, and local organizations in India to innovate and create new approaches to solving problems.
