Scottish writer Douglas Stuart wins 2020 Booker prize for novel Shuggie Bain: Highlights with Details  

The Booker Prize 2020: Scottish writer Douglas Stuart has won the 2020 Booker Prize for fiction with his debut novel Shuggie Bain, which described a boy growing up in Glasgow in the 1980s with a mother battling addiction. 

The awards ceremony saw six shortlisted authors joining virtually and included messages from former US President Barack Obama, the Duchess of Cornwall and former Booker winners Kazuo Ishiguro, Margaret Atwood and Bernardine Evaristo.

PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Multi-storied flats for Members of Parliament on 23rd November 

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate Multi-storied flats for Members of Parliament on 23rd November 2020 at 11 AM via video conferencing. The Speaker of Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla will also be present on the occasion.

These flats are located at Dr B D Marg in New Delhi. Eight old bungalows, which were more than 80 years old, have been redeveloped to construct 76 flats. 28 Food Processing Projects worth over Rs 320 Crores Approved

28 projects, with project costs of Rs. 320.33 crores, supported with a grant of Rs. 107.42 Crores by MoFPI, were approved under the CEFPPC Scheme by the Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meeting chaired by Shri, Union Minister, FPI. These projects spread over 10 states are likely to generate employment for nearly 10,000 people.

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar chaired the IMAC meeting through video conference to consider projects under the Scheme of Creation/Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) (Unit Scheme) under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) for necessary Grants-in-aid. Shri Rameswar Teli, MoS FPI, was also present in the meeting. Promoters of the scheme attended the meeting virtually.

These 28 projects will create a processing capacity of 1237 MT daily andare spread across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, J&K, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Assam, and Manipur.These 28 projects include 6 projects of north Eastern states with project costs of Rs. 48.87 crores supported with a grant of Rs. 20.35 Crores by MoFPI.
