IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal appointed as new CBI director, Currently heads CISF

A 1985 batch IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been appointed as the new director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, a 1985 batch IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre, currently heads the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The committee consisted of Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary.

About Subodh Kumar Jaiswal new CBI director

Subodh Kumar Jaiswal will hold the post of CBI Director for two years. Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been the DGP and ATS Chief of Maharashtra. He is currently the director general of the CISF. 58-year-old Jaiswal will retire in 2022.

He has a long tenure in the Intelligence Bureau and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
