Tokyo Olympics 2020: Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia won the bronze medal after defeating Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan in the men's freestyle 65kg category in the Tokyo Olympics 2020
Bajrang Punia suffered a crushing 5-12 loss to Azerbaijani wrestler Haji Aliyev in the semi-finals, but Bajrang made a strong comeback in the bronze medal bout with an 8-0 win to give India a sixth medal at Tokyo 2020.
This was India’s sixth medal in the Tokyo Olympics after medals from Mirabai Chanu, P.V. Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, Indian men's hockey team and Wrestler Ravi Dahiya thus equaling the London Olympic record of six medals.

Bajrang Punia started wrestling at the age of 7. He belongs to a family of a rural background in Khudan village of Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana. As Bajrang was not born with a silver spoon so he had to face many monetary hardships during his initial days. However, it was his friend cum guru the famous wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt who has always supported him.
Haryana govt announces Rs 2.5 crore cash prize, job for Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Bajrang Punia
The Haryana government announced an award to Bajrang Punia for winning the bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced a reward of Rs 2.5 crore to Wrestler Bajrang Punia and a class 1 category job and a plot of land at 50 percent concession anywhere in the state.
The Haryana government will also construct an indoor stadium for wrestling at Bajrang Punia's village Khudan, Jhajjar to train youngsters and future prospects in wrestling.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has congratulated Bajrang Punia for winning the Bronze Medal in wrestling at Tokyo Olympics 2020.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister Modi said;
"Delightful news from #Tokyo2020! Spectacularly fought @BajrangPunia. Congratulations to you for your accomplishment, which makes every Indian proud and happy."
