US hands over 157 artefacts & antiquities to India   

157 artefacts & antiquities were handed over by the United States during Prime Minister Modi’s visit. PM conveyed his deep appreciation for the repatriation of antiquities to India by the United States. PM Modi & President Biden committed to strengthen their efforts to combat the theft, illicit trade and trafficking of cultural objects.

The list of 157 artefacts includes a diverse set of items ranging from the one and a half metre bas relief panel of Revanta in sandstone of the 10th CE to the 8.5cm tall, exquisite bronze Nataraja from the 12th CE. The items largely belong to the period of 11th CE to 14th CE as well as historic antiquities such as the copper anthropomorphic object of 2000 BC or the terracotta vase from the 2nd CE. MoD signs contract with Airbus Defence for acquisition of 56 C-295 MW transport aircraft for IAF 

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with Airbus Defence and Space, Spain for acquisition of 56 C-295MW transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force, on September 24, 2021.

Key Highlights

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has also signed an Offset Contract with Airbus Defence and Space through which Airbus will discharge its offset obligations through direct purchase of eligible products and services from Indian Offset Partners. These contracts were signed following the approval accorded by the Cabinet Committee on Security earlier this month.

The induction of C-295MW will be a significant step towards modernisation of the transport fleet of the Indian Air Force (IAF). It is a transport aircraft of 5-10 tone capacity with contemporary technology that will replace the ageing Avro transport aircraft of IAF.

Out of 56, forty aircraft will be manufactured in India by TATA Consortium

The project will provide a major boost to the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ of the Government that offers a unique opportunity for the Indian private sector to enter into technology intensive and highly competitive aviation industry. Out of 56, forty aircraft will be manufactured in India by TATA Consortium. All the deliveries will be completed within ten years of signing of the contract. All 56 aircraft will be installed with indigenous Electronic Warfare Suite. PM Modi leaves for home after his historic visit to America 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for home after concluding a landmark visit to the US where he addressed the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, attended the first in-person Quad summit and held bilateral and multilateral engagements.

PM Modi held talks with US President Joe Biden, US Vice President Kamala Harris and his counterparts from Australia Scott Morrison and from Japan Yoshihide Suga. Prime Minister also met top American CEOs of five companies and invited them to step up their investments in the country.

Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct an Air Show at Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir at 9 this morning, as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mohotsav.

Uttar Pradesh becomes first state in county to administer over 10 crore doses of Coronavirus vaccine 

Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to administer over ten crore doses of Coronavirus vaccine.

According to the additional Chief Secretary Medical and Health Amit Mohan Prasad, the first dose has been given to more than 8 crore 15 lakh people and one crore 85 lakh 10 thousand 688 people have got the second dose of Coronavirus vaccine.


ADB approves $250 million loan agreement for economic recovery programme in Bangladesh  

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a USD 250 million loan to Bangladesh for economic recovery following the COVID 19 pandemic in the country. The Sustainable Economic Recovery Programme aims to generate employment and expand economic activities for micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage crosses the landmark of 85 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.77%

With the administration of 68,42,786 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 85 Cr (85,60,81,527) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.77%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 28,326 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.98% remains less than 3% for the last 93 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.90%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 27 days and below 5% for 110 consecutive days now.
