APEDA signs MoU with GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar for boosting agri-exports from Uttarakhand

The Agricultural and Processed food Products Development Authority (APEDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar, Uttarakhand.

The MoU envisages cooperation between APEDA and GBPUAT which would harness their respective expertise and resources for development of agriculture products exports from India. For creating product specific clusters for exports, two institutions of repute, would jointly develop technologies for advance alertness, efficient & precision farming for enhancing quality exports.

The MoU also focuses on use of digital agriculture including drones, satellites, GIS and GPS to be promoted for early assessment of health, productivity and production of major crops of Uttarakhand.

The MoU also aims at establishment of Basmati-Rice and Millets Export Development Centre for providing support and necessary infrastructure for facilitating production and setting-up a value chain for Agri-export.


India and China Bilateral trade crosses US $90 billion in the first three quarters of 2021   

According to the nine-month data released by the Chinese customs, the bilateral trade between India and China stands at USD 90.37 billion by the end of September 2021, an increase of 49.3 per cent year-on-year (YoY).

Key Highlights

China's exports to India went up to USD 68.46 billion up 51.7 per cent YoY, apparently aided by massive imports of urgent supplies, like oxygen concentrators, when India was in the grip of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in April and May this year. The Indian exports totaled to USD 21.91 billion, registering a noteworthy increase of 42.5 per cent.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur today launched MyParkings app in New Delhi.

According to the Minister Anurag Thakur, parking is a difficult issue and this app is an effort to reduce stress and help people plan their trips better. Smart parking solution through app or through card is an effortless solution towards hassle-free parking and booking of online  parking slots will enable people to park their vehicles without inconvenience. 

MyParkings is a IOT technology-enabled end-to-end digital solution and will be available for use with 

  1. Mobile App both in Android & iOS platforms
  2. Prepaid Cards
  3. Enabled Smart QR Codes
This app has been developed by Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) with South Delhi Municipal Corporation with the purpose to digitize all authorized parking under SDMC municipal limits. This facility will be rolled out in future to other municipality divisions across India.

Last date of participation in #FOSS4Gov Innovation Challenge extended till 18 October, 2021  

To promote the #FOSS4Gov Innovation Challenge, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) has extended the last date of participation in the challenge and submission of applications till 18 October, 2021. The ministry has appealed to FOSS innovators to participate in large numbers to drive the FOSS revolution to its maximum potential.

The ‘Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in Government’ or #FOSS4Gov Innovation challenge was launched by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology on the occasion of the 7-year anniversary of MyGov to accelerate adoption of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in Government and build the Indian FOSS Ecosystem on July 26, 2021.


Jammu and Kashmir achieves 100% coverage of first dose of COVID-19 vaccine  

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has achieved the milestone of 100 percent coverage of first dose Covid Vaccine for the age group of above 18 years old across all 20 districts.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 97.14 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.07%

With the administration of 30,26,483 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 97.14 Cr (97,14,38,553) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.07%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 16,862 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.42% remains less than 3% for the last 112 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.43%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 46 days and below 5% for 129 consecutive days now.
