Cabinet approves 3% increase in DA of Central Govt employees, pensioners due from July 1, 2021 

Cabinet approves 3% increase in DA of Central Govt employees, pensioners: The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today has approved to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 1.7.2021 representing an increase of 3% over the existing rate of 28% of the Basic Pay / Pension, to compensate for price rise.

This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission. The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be Rs.9,488.70 crore per annum. India achieves major milestone of ONE BILLION COVID-19 vaccinations; Recovery Rate currently at 98.15% 

India achieves major milestone of ‘100 crore COVID-19 vaccinations: In a historic achievement, the cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has surpassed the 100-crore milestone.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.15%. Recovery Rate is currently at 98.15% its highest peak since March 2020. 18,454 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the Union Health Ministry, more than 48 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

India's Active caseload stands at one lakh 78 thousand 831. Active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases and it is currently at 0.52 per cent, the lowest since March last year.

Cabinet approval sets the implementation of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) in motion  

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved PM GatiShakti National Master Plan including institutional framework for rolling out, implementation, monitoring and support mechanism for providing multi-modal connectivity.

Prime Minister launched PM GatiShakti NMP for multi-modal connectivity on 13th October, 2021. Implementation framework includes Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGOS), Network Planning Group (NPG) and Technical Support Unit (TSU) with required technical competencies. 

EGOS will be headed by Cabinet Secretary and will consist of Secretaries of 18 Ministries as members and Head of Logistics Division as Member Convenor. The EGOS has been mandated to review and monitor implementation of the PM GatiShakti NMP to ensure logistics efficiency. 

It is empowered to prescribe framework and norms for undertaking any subsequent amendments to the NMP.EGOS shall also set out the procedure and definitive framework for synchronization of various activities, and ensure that various initiatives of infrastructure development are part of the common integrated digital platform. EGOS will also look at the interventions required to meet the demand side, in efficiently transporting bulk goods on the requirement of various Ministries like Steel, Coal, Fertilizer, etc.


IDBI Bank net profit up 75% to Rs 567 crore in Q2  

LIC-controlled IDBI Bank's net profit rose 75 per cent to Rs 567 crore for the second quarter ended Sept 30. IDBI Bank had posted a net profit of Rs 324 crore in the same period (July-September) of the previous fiscal.


RBI imposes 1 crore Penalty on Paytm Payments Bank  

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1 crore on Paytm Payments Bank for submitting information that did not reflect the factual position, which, according to the central bank, is an offence under Section 26 (2) of the Payments and Settlement Act.

On examination of PPBL’s application for issue of final Certificate of Authorisation (CoA), it was observed that PPBL had submitted information which did not reflect the factual position. As this was an offence of the nature referred to in Section 26 (2) of the PSS Act, a notice was issued to PPBL. After reviewing the written responses and oral submissions made during the personal hearing, the RBI determined that the aforementioned charge was substantiated and warranted the imposition of a monetary penalty.


Uttarakhand CM Dhami announced an assistance of Rs 4 lakh for the next of kin of those killed in the floods 

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakhs for the families of people who died due to heavy rains in the state. So far 48 people have died and many people are missing due to heavy rains and floods in Uttarakhand.


Home Minister Amit Shah reviews flood situation and relief work in Uttarakhand

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today conducted an aerial survey of the disaster-affected areas in Uttarakhand today. 

HM Amit Shah was accompanied by State Governor Gurmeet Singh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt and Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni. So far 48 people have died and many people are missing due to heavy rains and floods in Uttarakhand.
