Commodore PK Garg appointed as new CEO of Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS)
The Sports Authority of India has announced the appointment of Commodore PK Garg as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).
About Commodore PK Garg
Commodore Garg was the High-Performance Director with Sports Authority of India till June 2021 and is an Arjuna Award recipient (1990) in Sailing and Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awardee in 1993-94. He joined the Indian Navy in 1984 and handled various important and prestigious assignments over 34 years of service.
As an ex-athlete, he represented India in five Asian Games from 1986 to 2002 in Enterprise Class Sailing Event and was a National Champion for five times. He also won the Gold and Silver at the Enterprise Class Sailing World Championships in 1993 in Zimbabwe and 1997 in Goa. He also won a couple of Bronze medals at the 1990 and 1994 Asian Games.
FATF retains Pakistan on its grey list; Turkey, Mali and Jordan also added to list
FATF retains Pakistan on its grey list; Turkey also added to list: The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has retained Pakistan on its Grey List; Turkey also added to list. FATF President Marcus Pleyer announced the decision was after a three-day-long plenary session of the global terror financing watchdog in Paris yesterday. He said, Pakistan government failed to comply with four of the action points out of a 34-point action plan given by FATF.

Archaeological Survey of India illuminates 100 Monuments in Tri-color to celebrate the landmark achievement of 100 crore vaccinations
The Archaeological Survey of India of the Ministry of Culture is illuminating 100 Monuments in Tri-color across the country as India achieved the landmark milestone of administering 100 crore COVID vaccinations in one of the World’s largest and fastest vaccination drives.
The illumination is taking place as a mark of respect and gratitude to corona warriors who have contributed relentlessly in the fight against covid pandemic.
The 100 monuments being lit up in Tri-color include UNESCO World Heritage Sites - the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar in Delhi, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh, Konark Temple in Odisha, MamallapuramRath temples in Tamil Nadu, St Francis of Assisi Church in Goa, Khajuraho, the forts of Chittor and Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan, the excavated ruins of the ancient Nalanda University in Bihar and Dholavira (recently accorded world heritage status) in Gujarat.
India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 100.59 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.16%
With the administration of 61,27,277 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 100 Cr mark to reach 100.59 Cr (1,00,59,04,580) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
The recovery of 18,641 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,35,14,449.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.16%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 15,786 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
The Active Caseload remains below the 2 lakh mark and is presently at 1,75,745 which is lowest in 232 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.51% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.
The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.31% remains less than 3% for the last 119 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.19%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 3% for the last 53 days and below 5% for 136 consecutive days now.
WHO congratulates India for achieving 100 crore vaccination mark
Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has congratulated India for achieving the 100 crore vaccination mark.
In a tweet, Mr Ghebreyesus congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scientists, health workers and people of India for efforts to protect the vulnerable populations from COVID 19 and achieve Vaccine Equity targets.
