1. PM Modi to inaugurate CIPET: Institute of Petrochemicals Technology, Jaipur
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated CIPET: Institute of Petrochemicals Technology, Jaipur and also lay the foundation stone of four new medical colleges in Banswara, Sirohi, Hanumangarh & Dausa districts of Rajasthan via video-conferencing. 
  • These Medical Colleges have been sanctioned under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for “Establishment of new medical colleges attached with district/ referral hospitals”. Preference to set up medical colleges is given to underserved, backward and Aspirational Districts. Under three phases of the Scheme, 157 new medical colleges have been approved across the nation.


2. Defence Acquisition Council clears proposals worth over 13,000 crore rupees for armed force 
  • Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defence minister Rajnath Singh has approved proposals of modernization and operational needs of the Indian Armed Forces amounting to 13,165 crore rupees.


3. 5th edition of Elite Women's National Boxing Championships to be held in Hisar from 21-27 October 2021
  • The fifth edition of the Elite Women's National Boxing Championships will be held in Hisar, Haryana from 21 to 27 October 2021.
  • The Elite Women's National Championship is being held after a gap of more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


4. Cabinet approves doubling of Nimach-Ratlam railway line
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved doubling of Nimach-Ratlam railway line. The total estimated cost of the project will be Rs.1,095.88 crore and its escalated / completion cost is Rs.1,184.67 crore. 
  • The total length of the doubling of the line is 132.92 km. The project will be completed in four years.


5. Cabinet approves doubling of Rajkot-Kanalus railway line
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the doubling of the Rajkot-Kanalus railway line. The total estimated cost of the project will be Rs.1,080.58 crore and its escalated / completion cost is Rs.1,168.13 crore.
  • The total length of doubling of line is 111.20 km. The project will be completed in four years.


6. Government approves Rs. 4,400 crore investment in ECGC Ltd. in 5 years to provide support to exporters as well as banks
  • Government has approved capital infusion of ₹4,400 crore to ECGC Ltd. (formerly known as Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd.) over a period of five years, i.e. from FY 2021-2022 to FY 2025- 2026. The approved infusion along with efforts made to suitably synchronize with the listing process of ECGC through the Initial Public Offering will increase the underwriting capacity of ECGC to support more exports.


7. Cabinet approves Continuation National Scheme for PM POSHAN in School for five more years
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the Prime Minister has approved the continuation of ‘National Scheme for PM POSHAN in Schools’ for the five year period 2021-22 to 2025-26 with the financial outlay of ₹ 54061.73 crores from the Central Government and ₹ 31,733.17 crore from State Governments & UT administrations. 
  • The Central Government will also bear an additional cost of about ₹ 45,000 crore on food grains. Therefore, the total scheme budget will amount to ₹ 1,30,794.90 crore.


8. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur to launch month-long Clean India Programme from Prayagraj
  • The Department of Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (Government of India) in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava is organizing a nationwide Clean India Programme from 1st October 2021 to 31st October 2021. 
  • The programme is being organised in 6 Lakh villages of 744 Districts across the country through the networks of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) affiliated Youth Clubs & National Service Scheme affiliated Institutions.


9. Sri Lanka bans import of organic fertilisers manufactured in China
  • Sri Lanka has banned the import of organic fertilisers manufactured in China after state agriculture authorities detected harmful bacteria in them for the second time.


10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairs 38th PRAGATI Meeting
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 38th PRAGATI meeting, the ICT based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving Centre and State governments. 
  • In the previous 37 PRAGATI meetings, 297 projects having a total cost of Rs. 14.39 lakh crore have been reviewed.


11. Bill Gates congratulates PM Modi on national launch of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
  • Bill Gates has congratulated Prime minister Narendra Modi on the national launch of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
  • In a tweet, Mr Gates said the digital health infrastructure will help ensure equitable, accessible health care delivery and accelerate progress on India's health goals.
  • Replying to Bill Gates, PM Modi thanked him for the kind words on the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. The Prime Minister said, there is immense scope in leveraging technology for the betterment of health infrastructure and India is working hard in this direction.


12. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage crosses the landmark of 88 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.85%
  • With the administration of 65,34,306 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 88 Cr (88,34,70,578) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.85%. Recovery Rate is currently at its highest peak since March 2020. 23,529 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
