6th Edition of Indo France Joint Military Exercise "EX SHAKTI 2021” to be held in Frejus from 15 to 26 Nov  

The 6th Edition of the biennial training exercise “EX SHAKTI 2021” is being conducted from 15 to 26 November 2021 in Frejus, France.

A platoon strength of a Gorkha Rifles Infantry Battalion is representing the Indian Army in this bilateral exercise and the French side is being represented by troops of 21st Marine Infantry Regiment of 6th Light Armoured Brigade.

Objectives of Indo France exercise EX SHAKTI 

Exercise SHAKTI will focus on Counter Terrorism operations in backdrop of semi-urban terrain under United Nations Mandate with an aim to enhance military cooperation and inter-operability between the two Armies.

Last Edition of Exercise SHAKTI

The last edition of Exercise SHAKTI was conducted at Foreign Training Node in Mahajan Field Firing Ranges, Rajasthan from 31 Oct to 13 Nov 2019 in which Counter Terrorism operations in semi-desert terrain were practised and validated.

India and France carry out three biennial training exercises namely, Exercise GARUDA with Indian Airforce, Exercise VARUNA with Indian Navy and Exercise SHAKTI with Indian Army.


PM Modi launches two innovative customer centric initiatives of RBI 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two innovative customer centric initiatives of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) viz. Retail Direct Scheme and the Reserve Bank - Integrated Ombudsman Scheme in New Delhi today via video conference.

Ministry of Tourism signs MoU with IRCTC to strengthen hospitality and tourism industry in the country  

The Ministry of Tourism in its ongoing effort to strengthen the Hospitality & Tourism Industry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on 10.11.2021.

The Ministry of Tourism has already signed similar MOUs with Easy My Trip, Cleartrip, Yatra dot com, Make My Trip and Goibibo.

Objective 

The primary objective of this MOU is to provide an extensive visibility to accommodation units, which have self-certified themselves on SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness & Training for the Hospitality Industry) on the OTA platform. 

The MoU also outlines both parties to encourage Units to register on NIDHI and thereby on SAATHI and encourage local tourism Industry with appropriate safeguards for curbing spread of COVID-19. The idea is also to gather more information on accommodation units in order to gain actionable insights & designing evidence based & targeted policy measures and to promote safe, honourable and sustainable tourism.


President Kovind to presents National Sports Awards 2021 tomorrow  

The President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind will give away the National Sports Awards 2021 tomorrow on 13th November, 2021at a specially organized function at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports announced the National Sports Awards on 2nd November 2021. National Sports Awards are given every year to recognize and reward excellence in sports.

‘Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award’ is given for the spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson over a period of previous four years.

‘Arjuna Award for outstanding performance in Sports and Games’ is given for good performance over a period of previous four years and showing qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and a sense of discipline.

‘Dronacharya Award for outstanding coaches in Sports and Games’ is given to coaches for doing outstanding and meritorious work on a consistent basis and enabling sportspersons to excel in International events.

‘Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime achievement in Sports and Games’ is given to honour sportspersons who have contributed to sports by their performance and continue to contribute to promotion of sports event after their retirement.

‘Rashtriya Khel ProtsahanPuruskar’ is given to corporate entities (both in private and public sector), sports control boards, NGOs including sports bodies at theState and National level who have played a visible role in the area of sports promotion and development.

Overall top performing university in inter-university tournaments is given Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates 32nd edition of “Hunar Haat” in Lucknow  

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemical and Fertilizers Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the 32nd edition of “Hunar Haat”, “Perfect Platform” to “promote and preserve” traditional art and craft of the country, in Lucknow today.

More than 600 artisans and craftsmen from more than 30 States/UTs are participating in the “Hunar Haat” in Lucknow. Traditional foods from various parts of the country are also available in “Hunar Haat”. Besides “Vishwakarma Vatika", “Circus” will also be displayed where the Indian Circus artists will perform spectacular diverse traditional entertainment shows.

3-day Uttarakhand Tribal Festival held in Dehradun UK  

The Union Minister for Ministry of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the 3-day Uttarakhand Tribal Festival in Dehradun, Uttarakhand on 11th November 2021.

The festival to promote and showcase the rich traditions, culture, art, handicrafts and food of the tribes of Uttarakhand namely Jaunsari, Tharu, Boksa, Bhotia and Raji. The main attraction of the event is Jhanki by all five tribes of Uttarakhand which depicted the traditional cultural ethos of Uttarakhand.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 110.79 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.26%

With the administration of 53,81,889 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 110.79 Cr (1,10,79,51,225) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 13,155 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,38,14,080.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.26%. 12,516 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload is presently at 1,37,416 is lowest in 267 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.40% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.10% remains less than 2% for the last 49 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.07%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 39 days and below 3% for 74 consecutive days now.
