PM Modi to participate in Constitution Day celebrations on 26th November   

The nation will celebrate Constitution Day on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. The observation of Constitution Day started in 2015, based on the vision of the Prime Minister to give due recognition to the significance of this historic date.

As a part of Constitution Day celebrations this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the programmes being organised in Parliament and Vigyan Bhawan on 26th November, 2021.

The programme organized in Parliament will begin at 11 AM and will be held in the Central Hall of Parliament. It will be addressed by the Hon’ble President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker OM Birla. After the speech of the Hon’ble President, the nation will join him Live, in reading the Preamble of the Constitution. Hon’ble President will also release the digital version of Constituent Assembly Debates, digital version of calligraphed copy of Constitution of India and updated version of the Constitution of India that will include all amendments till date. He will also inaugurate ‘Online Quiz on Constitutional Democracy’.


India, ADB sign $300 million loan agreement to improve primary health care in India 

The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $300 million loan agreement to strengthen and improve access to comprehensive primary health care in urban areas of 13 states that will benefit over 256 million urban dwellers including 51 million from slum areas.

India ADB loan agreement supports the Government of India’s key health initiatives - Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWC) and Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PM-ASBY) - which has been renamed as Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) - by expanding availability and access to quality primary health care services particularly for vulnerable populations in urban areas.

The programme will be implemented in urban areas across 13 states: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal. Beside the pandemic response, interventions through the program promote increased utilization of urban HWCs with provision of comprehensive primary health care packages including noncommunicable diseases and community outreach services such as awareness raising activities on health care options, particularly for women. Delivery and health information systems for primary health care will be upgraded through digital tools, quality assurance mechanisms, and engagement and partnership with the private sector.


Cabinet approves bill to repeal three contentious farm laws 2021 

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a bill to repeal the three farm laws, announced Union minister Anurag Thakur.

Farmers across the country have been protesting systematically on the Delhi borders for the last one year, due to which the Modi government had to finally withdraw 3 agricultural bills after giving up.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the government's intention to withdraw the laws in the interest of the nation on the occasion of Gurpurab on 19th Nov 2021. The winter session of Parliament will start from November 29, 2021, during which the entire process of withdrawing these 3 agricultural laws will be done by the government.

The three farm laws to be repealed are:

  1. Farmer's Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act.
  2. The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act.
  3. The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act.

These laws, passed in September last year, were widely protested by farmers across the country on the borders of Delhi and are still protesting against these laws.


Cabinet approves extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) for another four months (December 2021-March 2022)  

The Union Cabinet has approved the extension for the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY-Phase V) for a period of another 4 months i.e. December 2021 till March 2022 @ 5 kg per person per month free of cost for all the beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) [Antodaya Anna Yojana & Priority Households] including those covered under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Phase-I and Phase-II of this scheme was operational from April to June, 2020 and July to November, 2020 respectively. Phase-III of the scheme was operational from May to June, 2021. Phase-IV of the scheme is currently operational for July-November, 2021 months.

The PMGKAY scheme for Phase V from December 2021 till March, 2022 would entail an estimated additional food subsidy of Rs. 53344.52 Crore


Cabinet approves Privatization of Electricity Distribution and Retail Supply Business in UT Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu  

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the formation of Company (Special Purpose Vehicle) to privatize the electricity distribution business in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (DNH&DD), sale of Equity Shares of the newly formed Company to highest bidder and formation of Trust(s) for serving employees’ liabilities.

According to the Modi government privatisation process will fulfill the desired outcomes of better services to over 1.45 lakh consumers of DNH&DD, operational improvements and functional efficiencies in distribution and provide a model for emulation by other utilities across the country. This will further lead to an increase in competition and strengthen the electricity industry and will also lead to recovery of unrealized dues.


Cabinet approves continuation of National Apprenticeship Training Scheme for next five years  

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accorded its approval for stipendiary support of Rs. 3,054 crore to apprentices who undergo apprenticeship training under National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) of Ministry of Education for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26 (upto 31-03-2026).

Approximately 9 lakhs apprentices will be trained by industry and commercial organisations. NATS is a well-established scheme of Government of India which has demonstrated to enhance the employability of students who have successfully completed the apprenticeship training.

The apprentices who have completed graduate and diploma programmes in Engineering, Humanities, Science and Commerce will be given stipends of Rs.9,000/- and Rs.8,000/- per month respectively.

The NATS will provide apprenticeship in the emerging areas under 'Production Linked Incentive' (PLI) such as Mobile manufacturing, Medical devices manufacturing, Pharma sector, Electronics/Technology products, Automobile sector etc. The scheme will also be preparing skilled manpower for connectivity/logistics industry sectors, identified under GatiShakti.


12th India - USA Trade Policy Forum (TPF) held in New Delhi  

India and the United States held the 12th Ministerial-level meeting of the India-United States Trade Policy Forum (TPF) in New Delhi on 23rd Nov 2021. India and the United States reaffirmed their commitment to take the economic relationship between the two countries to the next high level.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 119.38 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.33%

With the administration of 90,27,638 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 119.38 Cr (1,19,38,44,741) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 10,264 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,39,67,962.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.33%. 9,119 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload presently stands at 1,09,940. Active cases presently constitute 0.32% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.90% remains less than 2% for the last 62 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.79%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 52 days and below 3% for 87 consecutive days now.
