Participation of female voters more than men in India: CEC Sushil Chandra

Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the Pharmaceutical Sector  

The PLI Scheme for Pharmaceuticals is based on the strategy of “Atmanirbhar Bharat- Strategies for enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities and enhancing exports in ten sectors”, which had been approved by the Union Cabinet on 24.02.2021.

Objective

The objective of the scheme is to enhance India’s manufacturing capabilities by increasing investment and production in the sector and contributing to product diversification to high value goods in the pharmaceutical sector. One of the further objectives of the scheme is to create global champions out of India who have the potential to grow in size and scale using cutting edge technology and thereby penetrate the global value chains.

The scheme will provide financial incentives on the incremental sales (over Base Year) of pharmaceutical goods and in-vitro diagnostic medical devices to selected applicants based on pre-defined selection criteria. The incentives will be paid for a maximum period of 6 years for each participant depending upon the threshold investments and sales criteria to be achieved by the applicant. The total quantum of the incentive for the scheme is Rs 15,000 crore. SIDBI is the Project Management Agency for the Scheme.


RBI cancels the licence of Shivalik Mercantile Co-operative Bank on its transition to Shivalik Small Finance 

Reserve Bank of India has cancelled the licence of Shivalik Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd. upon its transition to Small Finance Bank as per Scheme of Voluntary Transition of Primary (Urban) Co-operative Banks (UCBs) into Small Finance Banks (SFBs).


Bank  Kushinagar Airport start Domestic flight operations  

Domestic flight operations at the newly inaugurated Kushinagar airport, Uttar Pradesh commenced on 26.11.2021 with the first flight operating between Delhi and Kushinagar under the RCS-UDAN (Regional Connectivity Scheme – UdeDesh Ka Aam Nagrik).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Kushinagar International Airport on 20th October 2021.

Key Highlights

Kushinagar is an international Buddhist pilgrimage centre. Here Lord Gautam Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana. This region is also the centre point of the Buddhist circuit, which consists of pilgrimage sites at Lumbini, Sarnathand Gaya. The operationalization of the Kushinagar airport will connect this region directly with national and global visitors and pilgrims.

The Airports Authority of India has developed the Kushinagar Airport with new terminal building spread across 3600sqm at an estimated cost of Rs 260 crore in association with Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. The new terminal is equipped to handle 300 passengers during peak hours.

SpiceJet was awarded the Kushinagar - Delhi route under the RCS-UDAN 4.0. The flight operations on this route will act as a multiplier effect on the hospitality, tourism, and local economy.


Drinking water supply schemes worth Rs. 225.24 Crore approved for Uttarakhand  

Drinking water supply schemes worth Rs 225.24 Crore were approved for Uttarakhand in the State-level scheme sanctioning committee (SLSSC) meeting held on 26th November, 2021. These schemes will provide tap water connection in 293 villages spread over 7 districts of the State. Of the 12 water supply schemes sanctioned, 11 are multi-village and one is a single village scheme. It will provide tap water connection to over 19,000 rural household.

As on date, out of 15.18 lakh rural household in the State, 7.41 lakh (48.79%) are getting tap water supply in their homes. In 2021-22, the State plans to provide tap water connections to 2.64 lakh household.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 121.06 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.34%

With the administration of 73,58,017 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 121.06 Cr (1,21,06,58,262) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 10,967 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,39,88,797.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.34%. 8,318 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload presently stands at 1,07,019. Active cases presently constitute 0.31% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.88% remains less than 1% for the last 13 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.86%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 54 days and below 3% for 89 consecutive days now.
