Shaktikanta Das re-appointed as RBI Governor
The Central Government has re-appointed former IAS officer Shaktikanta Das as Governor, Reserve Bank of India for a further period of three years. The re-appointment is effective from December 10, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
According to an official statement the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the reappointment of Shaktikanta Das as Reserve Bank of India Governor for a period of three years beyond 10.12.2021 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Before this Shaktikanta Das took charge as the 25th Governor of RBI on December 11, 2018, for a period of three years.
His predecessor Urjit Patel had resigned before his term ended amid differences with the Modi government. RBI issues licence to Unity Small Finance Bank to start operations
Unity Small Finance Bank Limited has commenced operations as a small finance bank with effect from November 1, 2021. The Reserve Bank has issued a licence to the bank under Section 22 (1) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 to carry on the business of small finance bank in India.

RBI imposes 56 lakh penalty on The Nainital Bank Ltd. Uttarakhand
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹56 lakh (Rupees Fifty Six lakh only) on The Nainital Bank Ltd. Uttarakhand (the bank) for non-compliance with the directions contained in RBI circulars on “Prudential Norms on Income Recognition, Asset Classification and Provisioning Pertaining to Advances - Divergence in NPA Accounts”.

Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has resigned from Congress and announced his new political party Punjab Lok Congress.
In a tweet, Captain Amarinder Singh said, he has sent his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi listing reasons for the resignation. He said, registration of the party is pending with the Election Commission and the party symbol will be approved later.
India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 107.29 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.22%
With the administration of 41,16,230 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 107.29 Cr (1,07,29,66,315) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
The recovery of 14,159 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,36,97,740.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.22%. 11,903 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
The Active Caseload is presently at 1,51,209 is lowest in 252 days. Active cases presently consti-tute 0.44% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.
The Weekly Positivity Rate at 1.18% remains less than 2% for the last 40 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be1.11%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below2% for last 30 days and below 3% for 65 consecutive days now.
