Both Houses of Parliament passes Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021    

The Parliament has passed the Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021, with the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha approving it today. On the first day of the Winter Session, the bill seeking to withdraw the three farm laws was moved in Lok Sabha by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, amid ruckus by the Opposition in the house.

The Bill was passed without discussion as Speaker Om Birla said, a debate is not possible in a noisy scene.

Later, the Bill was also introduced in the Upper House by Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in the post-lunch session, which was passed amidst noisy scenes.(inp:dd)

Govt revises guidelines for international arrivals in India amid concerns on new COVID -19 variant Omicron  

COVID -19 variant Omicron: In view of reporting of the new variant of Covid-19 named Omicron, the Union Health Ministry of India has revised guidelines for international arrivals in India to be effective from 1st December. The Ministry has mandated submitting 14 days travel details, uploading negative RT-PCR test reports on the Air Suvidha portal before the journey. The RT-PCR test should have been conducted within 72 hours prior to undertaking the journey.

As per Health Ministry's guidelines, travellers from 'countries at-risk' will need to take the COVID test post-arrival and wait for results at the airport. If tested negative they will follow home quarantine for 7 days, re-test on 8th day and if negative, further self-monitor for next 7 days. Travellers from countries excluding those countries at risk will be allowed to leave the airport and shall self-monitor their health for 14 days. A sub-section 5 per cent of total flight passengers shall undergo post-arrival testing at random at the airport on arrival.

The cost of the testing of such travellers will be borne by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.....Read More


7th edition of IISF 2021 to be held in Panaji from 10-13 of Dec 2021 

The 7th edition of India International Science Festival (IISF) 2021 will be held in Panaji, Goa from 10th to 13th December 2021.

Organised by 

The 4 days festival will be organized by the Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Department of Atomic Energy, the Department of Space and the Government of Goa.

Participate by  

More than 100 scientists from different fields will participate and 740 science films from 70 countries will be screened.

Themes

The festival theme will be based on Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with the motto of Celebration of science and its promotion by all.


Renowned Lyricist Prasoon Joshi receives Indian Film Personality of the Year Award for 2021 

Prasoon Joshi renowned lyricist and Chairperson, Central Board of Film Certification said on being presented the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award for 2021, at the closing ceremony of the 52nd International Film Festival, today, in Goa, today, November 28, 2021. The award has been conferred on him, for his contribution to cinema, popular culture and socially significant artistic work.

Ms. Hema Malini, Actor, Member of Parliament from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh was also conferred the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award for 2021 at the opening ceremony of the festival, on November 20, 2021.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 122.41 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 98.34%

With the administration of 42,04,171vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 122.41 Cr (1,22,41,68,929) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

The recovery of 9,905 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,40,08,183.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.34%. 8,309 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload presently stands at 1,03,859. Active cases presently constitute 0.30% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.85% remains less than 1% for the last 15 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.09%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for the last 56 days and below 3% for 91 consecutive days now.
