President Ram Nath Kovind approves Tatrakshak medals to Indian Coast Guard personnel 

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind has awarded President’s Tatrakshak Medal (PTM)/ Tatrakshak Medal (TM) to the following Indian Coast Guard Personnel for their act of conspicuous gallantry, exceptional devotion to duty and distinguished/ meritorious service on the occasion of the Republic Day 2022.

Background

These awards have been given to the personnel of the Indian Coast Guard on the occasion of Republic Day and Independence Day every year, since 26 Jan 1990.


Squadron Leader Suraj Nair conferred the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) award 

Squadron Leader Suraj Nair has been awarded the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) for his exceptional courage in battlefields surrounded by enemies and for his missions conducted without hesitation for his life.

Background

On 03 Apr 21, Squadron Leader Suraj Nair volunteered to take part in a daring Casualty Evacuation mission in the vicinity to an ambush site in a known Naxalite infested area. He provided priceless inputs to the higher authorities at the control centre for effective planning and successful accomplishment of the mission. He planned the preparation and launch of the helicopters in a short notice; serving as an asset to his mission leader. After recce of the ambush site, his inputs were instrumental in effective execution of the dynamic mission.


Wing Commander Chinmaya Patro conferred Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) 

Wing Commander Chinmaya Patro has been awarded the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) for display of exceptional courage without regard for personal safety in a highly hostile area during Operation Triveni.

Background

On 03 Apr 21, as part of Operation Triveni, Wg Cdr Patro was detailed to lead a three aircraft Casualty Evacuation (CasEvac) mission post a deadly ambush by Naxals. This high-risk mission involved landing in an unfamiliar hostile area. He was instrumental in the initial planning and led a two aircraft formation to the nearest nodal helipad. Soon after landing at the helipad after aerial recce, he reassessed the situation from the on-ground forces and provided valuable inputs for an “On-site Cas Evac”. He planned the launch of the third helicopter to provide aerial support at the hostile site.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 162.92 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 93.15%

With the administration of more than 62 lakh Doses (62,29,956) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 162.92 Cr (1,62,92,09,308) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

2,67,753 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,70,71,898.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 93.15%. 2,55,874 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 22,36,842. Active cases constitute 5.62% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 17.17% and the Daily Positivity rate also reported to be 15.52%.
