1. Cabinet approves MoU with Nepal for construction of bridge over Mahakali River at Dharchula in Uttarakhand
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Nepal for construction of a bridge over Mahakali River at Dharchula in Uttarakhand (India)- Dharchula (Nepal).


2. Cabinet approves MoU between India and Turkmenistan in Disaster Management
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the field of Disaster Management.


3. Cabinet approves Agreement between India and Spain on Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of Agreement between India and Spain on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters.
  • The Agreement will help in making available, reliable, quick and cost-effective information and intelligence for the prevention and investigation of Customs offences and apprehending of Customs offenders.


4. Cabinet approves Intra-State Transmission System – Green Energy Corridor Phase-II
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the scheme on Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase-II for Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS) for addition of approximately 10,750 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and approx. 27,500 Mega Volt-Amperes (MVA) transformation capacity of substations.


5. Nitin Gadkari inaugurates and lays foundation stones for 572 km of National Highway in Uttar Pradesh
  • Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 572 km of National Highway(NH) projects at a cost of Rs.12981 crore in Kaushambi, Ayodhya and Basti in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Gadkari Inaugurated and laid foundation Stone of 6 NH Projects worth Rs 2659 Crore in Kaushambi. In Ayodhya he laid the foundation stone of 6 NH Projects worth Rs 8,698 Crore and in Basti the Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stone of 3 NH Projects worth Rs 1,624 crore.


6. Veteran Chinese diplomat Zhang Ming takes over as new Secretary-General of SCO
  • Veteran Chinese diplomat, Zhang Ming, has taken over as the new secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
  • Before joining SCO, Zhang served for four years as the head of the Chinese mission to the European Union.


7. HM Amit Shah inaugurated & laid foundation stones for 29 development projects in Manipur
  • The Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 29 development projects worth Rs 2,450 crore in Manipur through video conferencing. The Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh was also present on the occasion.


8. PM Modi inaugurate 2nd campus of CNCI in Kolkata
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) in Kolkata, West Bengal on today via video conferencing. 
  • CNCI was facing a heavy load of cancer patients and a need for expansion was being felt for sometime. This need will be fulfilled through the second campus.


9. Sports Authority of India issues fresh SOPs to combat rising COVID-19 cases
  • The Sports Authority of India has come up with fresh Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to deal with the drastic rise in the Covid cases, mostly owing to the Omicron variant. These measures will be strictly implemented at the various National Centres of Excellence (NCOE) as well as the ongoing national coaching camps.


10. India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 149.66 Cr; Recovery Rate currently at 97.57%
  • With the administration of more than 94 lakh Doses (94,47,056) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 149.66 Cr (1,49,66,81,156) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
  • 30,836 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,43,71,845.
  • Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.57%. 1,17,100 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
