India-Japan joint military exercise, EX DHARMA GUARDIAN-2022 

A joint military exercise, “EX DHARMA GUARDIAN-2022”, between India and Japan will be conducted at Foreign Training Node, Belagavi (Belgaum, Karnataka) from 27 February 2022 to 10 March 2022.

Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN-2022 is an annual training event which is being conducted in India since 2018.

Union Bank launches Union MSME RuPay Credit Card  

Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Narayan Rane launched the Union MSME RuPay Credit Card of Union Bank of India.

The Union MSME RuPay Credit Card is being offered by Union Bank of India in association with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It provides a simplified payment mechanism to MSMEs to meet their business-related operational expenses.

Union MSME RuPay Credit Card Benefits

Indo-Oman exercise, Eastern Bridge-VI (2022) held in Air Force Station Jodhpur 

The Indo-Oman exercise, Eastern Bridge-VI (2022) was successfully conducted at Air Force Station Jodhpur from 21 to 25 February 2022.

Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) participated with Indian Air Force (lAF) in the exercise Eastern Bridge-VI which was aimed at providing operational exposure and undertaking mutual exchange of best practices, towards enhancing operational capabilities of both the Air Forces.

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Government of India has bagged three awards at 12th Annual Aegis Graham Bell Awards in a virtual ceremony on 25th Feb 2022 for its indigenously designed & developed innovative Telecom solutions in various categories.

C-DOT is declared TOP WINNER in three categories as below

Former Odisha CM Hemananda Biswal passes away at 82 

Former Odisha Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Hemananda Biswal died in Bhubaneswar. He was 82. Hemananda Biswal was elected as a MLA with Congress ticket for the first time in 1974. 

Hemananda Biswal was CM of Odisha twice from 7th December 1989 to 5th March 1990 and again from 6th December 1999 to 5th March 2000.


Govt released grant of Rs 1348.10 crore to six states for urban local bodies 

The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance released an amount of Rs. 1348.10 crore to 6 States for providing grants to Urban Local Bodies. The States to which grants were released on Friday are Jharkhand (Rs. 112.20 crore), Karnataka (Rs. 375 crore), Kerala (Rs. 168 crore), Odisha (Rs.411 crore), Tamil Nadu (Rs.267.90 crore) and Tripura (Rs.14 crore). The grants released are meant for Non-Million Plus cities (NMPCs) including Cantonment Boards.

Background 

The 15th Finance Commission in its report for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26 has divided the Urban Local Bodies into two categories: (a) Million-Plus urban agglomerations/cities (excluding Delhi and Srinagar), and (b) all other cities and towns with less than one million population (Non-Million Plus cities). 

The 15th Finance Commission has recommended separate grants for them. Out of the total grants recommended by the Commission for Non-Million Plus cities, 40% is basic (untied) grant and the remaining 60% is tied grant. Basic grants (untied) are utilised for location specific felt needs, except for payment of salary and incurring other establishment expenditure.


Ministry of Education launches Bhasha Certificate Selfie campaign

The Ministry of Education launched a campaign ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie to encourage cultural diversity and promote multilingualism and to foster the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

Bhasha Certificate Selfie initiative aims to promote Bhasha Sangam mobile app, developed by Ministry of Education and MyGov India. Using the app, people can learn 100+ sentences of daily use in as many as 22 scheduled Indian languages.

The ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie’ initiative is encouraging people to upload their selfie with the certificate from their social media accounts using the hashtag #BhashaCertificateSelfie.

Mirabai Chanu won a gold medal in the 55 kilogram category by lifting a total of 191 kilograms in the Singapore Weightlifting International.


Tan Kim Her appointed as India's badminton doubles coach 

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has approved the appointment of ace Malaysian badminton coach, Tan Kim Her, as India’s Doubles Coach till the Asian Games in 2026. The 50-year-old Tan Kim Her return to India will raise the stock of the double’s combinations in the country.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 177.17 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.52%

With the administration of more than 28.29 lakh Doses (28,29,582) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 177.17 Cr (1,77,17,68,379) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

23,598 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,22,70,482.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.52%.11,499 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 1,21,881. Active cases constitute 0.28% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.36% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.01%.
