The Indian Navy successfully demonstrated the accuracy of an extended-range land attack Brahmos supersonic cruise missile from the stealth destroyer INS Chennai. The missile hit its intended target with pinpoint accuracy after traversing an extended range trajectory and performing complex manoeuvres.
Both Brahmos missile and INS Chennai are indigenously built and highlight the cutting-edge of Indian missile and ship-building prowess.

PM Modi to inaugurate 12 kilometer stretch of Pune Metro Rail project today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pune today and inaugurate the Pune Metro Rail Project. He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects.
This project is an endeavour to provide world class infrastructure for urban mobility in Pune. Foundation Stone of the project was also laid by the Prime Minister on 24th Dec 2016. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate 12 km stretch of the total 32.2 km Pune metro rail project. The entire project is being built at a total cost of more than Rs 11,400 crore.
PM Modi will also inaugurate and inspect Exhibition at Garware Metro Station and will undertake a metro ride from there to Anandnagar Metro Station.......Read More
Election 2022: Polling for seventh and last phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh to be held tomorrow
Polling for the seventh and last phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held tomorrow. 54 constituencies spread over 9 districts will go to the polls in this phase.
These districts are Mau, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Bhadohi. A total of 613 candidates are in the fray for this phase.
ARIES and IIT Roorkee students to participate in joint PhDs through MoU signed for academic cooperation
Students of Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) and Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) will soon be able to participate in joint PhD programmes and IIT Roorkee students can do projects on the ongoing activities at ARIES utilizing the various existing and upcoming facilities at ARIES.
This will be possible through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ARIES, an autonomous institute under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, with Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) for academic cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
This MoU will foster collaboration, and facilitate advancement of knowledge on the basis of reciprocity, best effort, mutual benefit, and frequent interactions. Furthermore, ARIES and IIT Roorkee have agreed to jointly sponsor research, development and consultancy; exchange of faculty, scientists and students; exchange of scientific and technical matters; hold joint conferences, workshops and short-term courses.
15th International Children’s Film Festival begins in Dhaka
The 15th International Children’s Film Festival kicked off in Dhaka with the screening of German filmmaker Dennis Gansel directed film Jim Button and the Wild 13.
The festival will showcase 117 films from 38 countries selected out of 2100 films submitted for the festival. They will compete in the international competition category which has eminent film personalities from Bangladesh Giasuddin Selim, Amitabh Reza Chowdhury and Shabnam Ferdousi as jury members.
Over 2100 Indians brought back today by special flights from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries
Under ‘Operation Ganga’ to rescue Indian citizens, 2135 Indians have been brought back today by 11 special civilian flights from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries. With this, more than 15 thousand 9 hundred Indians have been brought back since the special flights began on 22nd February, 2022.
The number of Indians airlifted by 66 special civilian flights goes up to 13852. Till date, the IAF has flown 10 sorties to bring back 2056 passengers, while taking 26 tonnes of relief load to these countries, as part of Operation Ganga.
Among the special Civilian flights today, 9 landed in New Delhi while 2 reached Mumbai. There were 6 flights from Budapest, 2 from Bucharest, 2 from Rzeszow, and 1 from Kosice.
Tomorrow, 8 special flights are expected to operate from Budapest (5), Suceva (2) and Bucharest (1), bringing in more than 1500 Indians back home.
Russia-Ukraine crisis: Visa and Mastercard suspend operations in Russia
US payments firms Visa and Mastercard announced they are suspending operations in Russia over the Ukraine issue. Both companies said they would work with their customers and partners to stop all transactions in Russia.
Mastercard said cards issued by Russian banks will no longer be supported by its network and any card issued outside the country will not work at Russian stores or ATMs.
India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 178.83 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.66%
With the administration of more than 26.19lakh Doses (26,19,778) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 178.83Cr (1,78,83,79,249) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
9,754 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,23,88,475.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.66%. 5,476 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
India’s Active Caseload is presently at 59,442. Active cases constitute 0.14% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.77% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.60%.
