RBI launches UPI for feature phones UPI123Pay and 24x7 helpline DigiSaathi       

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched UPI for feature phones called UPI123payRBI governor Shaktikanta Das launched the UPI123pay and also launched a 24x7 helpline DigiSaathi for digital payments in Mumbai. This new initiative by RBI will facilitate use of UPI with text and allow feature phone users to seamlessly perform various financial and non-financial transactions. The 24x7 helpline DigiSaathi will give an opportunity to provide solutions to various queries about digital payments.

There are more than 40 crore feature phone users in India and they are not able to use digital payment solutions.

Background 

At present, efficient access to UPI is available on smartphones. UPI can be accessed through NUUP (National Unified USSD Platform) using the short code of *99#. But this option is cumbersome and not popular. Considering that there are more than 40 crore feature phone mobile subscribers in the country, UPI123pay will materially improve the options for such users to access UPI.....Read More


President Kovind appoints Justice Ahanthem Bimol Singh as Judge of Manipur High Court 

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind, in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, appointed Justice Ahanthem Bimol, Additional Judge of the Manipur High Court, as a Judge of that High Court.


Argentina Federal Police to effectively use Yoga for stress management of its personnel 

Argentina federal police will now effectively use the technique of Yoga for stress management of its personnel. Yoga has been practiced in this part of the globe for the last several years, yet in the last couple of years, interest in yoga and awareness in Indian culture has increased rapidly. Earlier Yoga and meditation were also taught in some Latin American jails to calm down the convicts.

Embassy of India in Argentina and University Institute of the Argentine Federal Police (IUPFA) will be jointly conducting a workshop on Yoga.

The general objective of this workshop will be to promote the practice of Yoga as a tool to develop physical, mental and emotional well-being, incorporating discipline techniques for stress management.


410 Indians brought back by special Civilian flights from Ukraine neighbouring countries 

Under ‘Operation Ganga’ to rescue Indian citizens from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries, 410 Indians were airlifted yesterday by 2 special civilian flights from Suceava. With this, about 18 thousand Indians have been brought back through the special flights which began on 22nd February, 2022.

The number of Indians airlifted by 75 special civilian flights goes up to 15521. IAF had flown 12 missions to bring back 2467 passengers, as part of Operation Ganga, and carried over 32 tonne relief material.

Among the civilian flights, 4575 passengers have been brought from Bucharest by 21 flights, 1820 from Suceava by 9 flights, 5571 from Budapest by 28 flights, 909 passengers by 5 flights from Kosice, 2404 Indians from Rzeszow by 11 flights, and 242 persons by a flight from Kyiv.


Regional Conference of Ministers from 6 States & a UT at Kolkata today 

The Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will be chairing a Regional Conference with Ministers from 6 States and UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to review the progress made under Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen.

Union Jal Shakti Minister will be discussing in detail with States of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Odisha, West Bengal and UT of A&N Islands on issues and challenges they are facing in implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 179.33 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.69%

With the administration of more than 18.69 lakh Doses (18,69,103) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 179.33 Cr (1,79,33,99,555) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

7,416 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,24,13,566.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.69%. 4,575 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 46,962. Active cases constitute 0.11% of the country's total Positive Cases. The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.62% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.51%.
