India's Nikhat Zareen wins gold medal in Women's World Boxing Championship
India's young flyweight boxer Nikhat Zareen clinched the gold medal by defeating Thailand’s Jitpong Jutamas 5-0 in the final match of the World Women's Boxing Championships in Istanbul. Nikhat has won this gold medal in the 52 kg weight category.
Nikhat Zareen became fifth Indian woman to win gold medal at the World Boxing Championships
The Nizamabad (Telangana)-born boxer Nikhat Zareen became the only fifth Indian woman to secure a gold medal at the World Boxing Championships after record six-time champion Mary Kom (2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2018), Sarita Devi (2006), Jenny RL (2006) and Lekha KC (2006).
Apart from Nikhat Zareen, Manisha (57kg) and Parveen (63kg) won the bronze medal.
