Govt ban Single Use Plastic Items from 1st July 2022: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India notified the Plastic Waste Management Amendment Rules, 2021, on 12 August 2021.

A decisive step is being taken by the government to curb the pollution caused by litter and unmanaged plastic waste. India will ban the manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of identified single-use plastic items across the country with effect from July 1, 2022, which have low utility and high potential.

PM Modi to participate in 'Udyami Bharat' programme on 30th June  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the ‘Udyami Bharat’ programme at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on 30th June, 2022.

Prime Minister Modi will launch the ‘Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance’ (RAMP) scheme, ‘Capacity Building of First-Time MSME Exporters’ (CBFTE) scheme and new features of the ‘Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme’ (PMEGP).

Prime Minister Modi will also digitally transfer assistance to beneficiaries of PMEGP for 2022-23; announce results of MSME Idea Hackathon, 2022; distribute National MSME Awards, 2022; and issue Digital Equity Certificates to 75 MSMEs in the Self Reliant India (SRI) Fund.

835 Squadron (CG), an indigenous Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) MK III squadron, was commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard at its Air Enclave in Porbandar, Gujarat.

The Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) MK III helicopters have been indigenously manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). They feature state-of-the-art equipment including advanced RADAR as well as Electro optical sensors, Shakti engines, full glass cockpit, high-intensity searchlight, advanced communication systems, automatic identification system as well as SAR homer.

The features enable them to undertake maritime reconnaissance as well as carry out SAR at extended ranges even while operating from ships during both day and night. The aircraft has the ability to switch roles from an offensive platform with heavy machine gun to that of a benign one carrying a Medical Intensive Care Unit to facilitate transfer of critically ill patients.

Iran applies to become member of the BRICS group  

According to the Iranian official, Iran has submitted an application to become a member of the BRICS group. Iran wants to join the BRICS group of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Other than this, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez, currently in Europe, has in recent days reiterated his desire for Argentina to join BRICS.


Colombo Security Conclave Training Programme on Investigation of Terrorism-related Cases held in New Delhi 

The Colombo Security Conclave Training Programme on Investigation of Terrorism-related Cases was organised in New Delhi from 20 to 28 June 2022 by the National Investigation Agency, in collaboration with the National Security Council Secretariat.

India, Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Seychelles participated in the training programme.

Discussion 

Participants discussed the various challenges related to investigating terrorism-related cases in their respective countries and shared experiences and best practices on prosecution of terrorism related cases, legal provisions in their respective countries, terror financing (including counterfeit currency), online radicalization and social media footprints, organized crime, economic intelligence, cyber and mobile forensics, and role of INTERPOL.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 197.46 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.56%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 197.46 Cr (1,97,46,57,138) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.65 Cr (3,65,66,839) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 99,602. Active cases now constitute 0.23% of the country's total Positive Cases. 14,506 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.56%. 11,574 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,28,08,666.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 3.30% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 3.35%.
