Jawaharlal Nehru Port becomes first 100% Landlord Port of India 

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP) has become the first major port of the country to become 100% Landlord port having all berths being operated on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Background

JNP is one of the leading container ports of the country and is ranked 26th among the top 100 global ports (as per Lloyd's List Top 100 Ports 2021 Report). Currently, five container terminals are operated at JNP, of which only one is port owned. With its state of the art facilities JNP meets all the international standards, user-friendly atmosphere, and excellent connectivity by rail and road to the hinterland. Facility of backup infrastructure like CFS, connectivity with ICDs, full-fledge Custom House, Airport, Hotels, proximity to Mumbai, Pune, Nashik city and its industrial belt makes it an unique container terminal.


RBI imposes ₹6 lakh penalty on Shri Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Urban Co-operative Bank 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBl) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹6.00 lakh (Rupees Six lakh only) on Shri Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Urban Co-operative Bank Limited, Beed, (M.H.) (the bank) for contravention of/ non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI to Urban Cooperative Banks on Frauds - Classification and Reporting.

Background

The inspection report of the bank based on its financial position as on March 31, 2020, revealed, inter alia, that the bank had delayed in reporting of frauds to RBI in contravention of/ non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on Frauds – Classification and Reporting. Based on the same, a Notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for non-compliance with the directions.


EESL installs 1.25 crore LED street lights in Urban Local Bodies and Gram Panchayats across India 

Prime Minister launched National LED Programme on 5th January, 2015 under which Street Light National Programme (SLNP) was formulated to replace conventional street lights with energy efficient LED street lights.

Till date, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has installed over 1.25 crore LED street lights in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Gram Panchayats (GPs) across India.

SLNP is being implemented in States/Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) who have signed the implementation agreement with EESL. At present, EESL is implementing Street Light National Programme in 23 States and 6 Union Territories. EESL has given proposals to all States/UTs and as and when the respective State/UT administration approves the same and agreements are signed with the ULBs, replacement of street lights is taken up by EESL.


ISSF World Cup 2022: Mairaj Ahmad Khan becomes first Indian shooter to win gold in men’s skeet event 

Two-time Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan created history by becoming the first Indian shooter to win the gold medal in the men’s skeet event in shooting at the ISSF World Cup 2022 in Changwon, South Korea.

Mairaj Ahmad Khan recorded 37 hits out of a possible 40 in the final to win gold. South Korea’s Minsu Kim struck 36 for silver while Ben Llewellin of Great Britain won bronze with 26 hits.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 200.33 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.47%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 200.33 Cr (2,00,33,55,257) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.80 Cr (3,80,72,341) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.
 
India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,43,654. Active cases now constitute 0.33% of the country's total Positive Cases. 15,528 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.47%. 16,113 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,31,13,623.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.57% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 3.32%.
