India, Namibia sign MoU on wildlife conservation and sustainable biodiversity utilization

NITI Aayog to launch the third edition of the India Innovation Index on 21st July  

NITI Aayog will release the third edition of the India Innovation Index on the 21st of July, 2022. The India Innovation Index 2021 will be released by the Vice-Chairman, NITI Aayog, Suman Bery.

The release of the third edition of the index – the first and second editions were launched in October, 2019 and January, 2021, respectively – corroborates the Government’s continuous commitment towards transforming the nation into an innovation-driven economy.

EPFO adds 16.82 lakh new subscribers in May 2022 

The provisional payroll data of Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) released on 20th July, 2022 highlights that EPFO has added 16.82 lakh new subscribers in the month of May, 2022.

Year-on-year comparison of payroll data shows an increase of 7.62 lakh net subscribers in May, 2022 as compared to the net subscription in the month of May, 2021 last year.

Age-wise comparison 

Age-wise comparison of payroll data indicates that the age-group of 22-25 years has registered the highest number of net enrolments with 4.33 lakh additions during May, 2022. This shows that many first-time job seekers are joining organised sector workforce in large numbers.

State-wise comparison 

State-wise comparison of payroll figures highlights that the establishments covered in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Gujarat and Delhi to remain in lead by adding approximately 11.34 lakh net subscribers during the month, which is 67.42% of total net payroll addition across all age groups.

Gender-wise analysis 

Gender-wise analysis indicates that net female payroll addition is approximately 3.42 lakh during the month and share of female enrolment is 20.39% of the net subscriber addition during the month of May, 2022.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 200.61 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.47%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 200.61 Cr (2,00,61,24,684) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.81 Cr (3,81,47,897) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,45,654. Active cases now constitute 0.33% of the country's total Positive Cases. 20,557 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.47%. 18,517 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,31,32,140.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.64% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.13%.
