India’s merchandise exports during January - June 2022 jump about 27% to 235 billion dollars   

India’s merchandise exports during January-June 2022 was USD 235.7 billion as compared to USD 185.9 billion during the same period of the previous year. India’s merchandise imports during January-June 2022 was USD 361.1 billion as compared to USD 258.6 billion during the same period of the previous year.

The total merchandise export was USD 421.9 billion during 2021-22 against the export target of USD 400 billion, achieving 105.4% of the export target. Exports of petroleum products grew by 119.47%, electronic goods by 41.42%, Leather & Leather products by 33.72%.


RBI imposes restrictions on four co-operative banks 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed restrictions, including on withdrawals, on four cooperative banks in view of their deteriorating financial positions.

These four banks include 

  1. Saibaba Janata Sahakari Bank, Maharashtra
  2. The Suri Friends' Union Co-operative Bank Ltd, West Bengal
  3. United India Co-operative Bank Ltd, Uttar Pradesh
  4. Bijnor and National Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd, Bahraich Uttar Pradesh

Background 

A depositor of Saibaba Janata Sahakari Bank cannot withdraw more than 20,000 rupees from the bank while the withdrawal limit for The Suri Friends' Union Co-operative Bank is 50,000 rupees. In the case of National Urban Co-operative Bank, the limit of withdrawal has been capped at 10,000 rupees per customer. 

The RBI has also imposed several restrictions on United India Co-operative Bank Limited, Bijnor, including a ban on withdrawals of funds by customers. The directions issued by the RBI to these four cooperative banks under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, will remain in force for six months.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 201.68 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.46%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 201.68 Cr (2,01,68,14,771) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.84 Cr (3,84,35,980) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,50,100. Active cases now constitute 0.34% of the country's total Positive Cases. 21,411 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.46%. 20,726 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,31,92,379.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.46% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 4.46%.
