ADB cuts India growth forecast to 7.2% for FY-2023

As per latest Asian Development Outlook released by Asian Development Bank (ADB) on slashed its growth forecast for India to 7.2 per cent from 7.5 per cent for financial year 2023 due to higher inflation.

WHO declares Monkeypox as global health emergency

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak of Monkeypox as a global health emergency.

According to the WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, more than 16,000 cases have now been reported from 75 countries. There have been five deaths so far as a result of the outbreak.

India's foreign exchange reserves drop USD 7.5 billion to USD 572.7 billion

As per latest data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India’s foreign exchange reserves dropped USD 7.5 billion to USD 572.7 billion during the week ended 15 July 2022. India's forex reserves are now at a 20-month low, the lowest since November 6, 2020.

Neeraj Chopra wins Silver medal in Men's Javelin throw at World Athletics Championship 2022

India's Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra has won Silver medal in men's javelin throw final at World Athletics Championships 2022 in the United States. Chopra secured the second position with a throw of 88.13 meters in his fourth attempt. Anderson Peters has won the gold medal with a throw of 90.54 meters.

Neeraj Chopra has become the first Indian to win a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 201.99 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.45%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 201.99 Cr (2,01,99,33,453) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.85 Cr (3,85,07,516) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,52,200. Active cases now constitute 0.35% of the country's total Positive Cases. 20,279 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.45%. 18,143 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,32,10,522.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.46% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 5.29%.
