PM Modi to visit Gujarat on 27-28 August 2022

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on 27th and 28th August. On 27th August, PM Modi will address Khadi Utsav at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. On 28th August, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Smriti Van Memorial in Bhuj.

Thereafter Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various developmental projects in Bhuj and PM Modi will address a programme in Gandhinagar, marking the commemoration of 40 years of Suzuki in India.

Cabinet approves amendment to export policy for Wheat or Meslin Flour

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the proposal for amendment of policy of exemption for Wheat or Meslin Flour (HS Code 1101) from export restrictions/ ban.

The approval will now allow a restriction on the export of Wheat Flour which will ensure a curb on rising prices of wheat flour and ensure food security of the most vulnerable sections of the society.

Rajnath Singh to hold bilateral talks with Tanzanian Defence Minister in New Delhi on 26 Aug 22

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with Tanzanian Minister of Defence and National Service Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax in New Delhi on 26 Aug 2022.

During the bilateral talks, the two Ministers will review the defence cooperation between the two countries and explore new avenues including Defence Industry Cooperation to further strengthen bilateral engagements. The overarching framework for progressing activities for defence cooperation is the MoU signed between both countries in 2003.

Tanzanian Minister of Defence and National Service Dr. Tax will also be visiting Hyderabad during her stay in India, where she will be interacting with Indian Defence Industries.

1st Khelo India Women’s Judo tournament to be held in Guwahati from August 27, 2022

The 1st Khelo India Women’s Judo Tournament is scheduled to be held across four zones in India, starting August 27.

The Judo tournament is another initiative taken by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to support sports competitions for Women via the Government of India’s flagship program, Khelo India.

The tournament, to be held across four zones before a National Round, is an open Zonal level ranking tournament. The competitors range across four age groups: Sub-Junior (12-15 years), Cadet (15-17 years), Junior (15-20 years) and Senior (15+ years).

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 210.82 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.60%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 210.82 Cr (2,10,82,34,347) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.01 Cr (4,01,07,033) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 94,047. Active cases now constitute 0.21% of the country's total Positive Cases. 10,725 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.60%. 13,084 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,37,57,385.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 3.20% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 2.73%.
