PM Modi to visit Kerala and Karnataka on 1-2 Sep 2022    

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka and Kerala on 1-2 September 2022On 1st September, PM Narendra Modi will visit Sri Adi Shankara Janma Bhoomi Kshetram, the holy birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya, at Kalady village near Cochin Airport. On 2nd September, PM Modi will commission the first indigenous aircraft carrier as INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi.

Thereafter PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 3800 crores in Mangaluru.

EAM S Jaishankar to embark on 3-day visit to UAE on 31st Aug  

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 31st August 2022 for co-chairing the 14th India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting and the third India-UAE Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Minister of the UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.


RBI imposes ₹1 lakh penalty on The Kendrapara Urban Cooperative Bank 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.00 lakh (Rupees One lakh only) on The Kendrapara Urban Cooperative Bank, Kendrapara (the bank) for contravention of/non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on Know Your Customer (KYC).

Background

The inspection report of the bank based on its financial position as on March 31, 2020, revealed, inter alia, violation/non-compliance with aforementioned directions issued by RBI to the extent the bank failed to undertake periodic review of risk categorisation of customer accounts. Based on the same, a Notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for non-compliance with the directions.


RBI imposes ₹55 lakh penalty on The Visakhapatnam Co-operative Bank 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹55.00 lakh (Rupees Fifty five lakh only) on The Visakhapatnam Co-operative Bank Ltd, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (the bank) for non-adherence/violation of directions issued under (i) Income Recognition, Asset Classification, Provisioning and Other related Matters-UCBs and (ii) Finance for Housing Schemes-UCBs.

Background

The inspection report of the bank based on its financial position as on March 31, 2020, revealed inter alia, violation/non-compliance with directions issued under Income Recognition, Asset Classification, Provisioning and Other related Matters-UCBs and Finance for Housing Schemes-UCBs. Based on the same a Notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for non-compliance with the directions.


PCIM&H and IPC signs MoU for Inter-Ministerial cooperation for promotion and facilitation of "One Herb, One Standard" 

The Ministry of Ayush has taken a significant step to achieve "One Herb, One Standard". A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (Ministry of Ayush) and Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare) in New Delhi for Inter-Ministerial cooperation for promotion and facilitation of “One Herb, One Standard”.

This MoU will further facilitate collaboration for promoting exchange of information in the area of standardization of Traditional medicine by sharing of scientific information and drug raw materials/extracts, seminars, workshops, training and brainstorming programs. The sole authority of publication of monographs categorized under the “one herb one standard” will lie with PCIM&H only.


ICAT Signs MoU with the NorthCap University for Emerging Technologies 

International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Northcap University (NCU), Gurugram, to enhance the Industry-Academia partnership for conducting joint short term and mid-term courses and research in the field of EV and related emerging technology area as per Industry Requirements.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 212.17 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.66%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 212.17 Cr (2,12,17,41,962) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.02 Cr (4,02,97,401) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 65,732. Active cases now constitute 0.15% of the country's total Positive Cases. 5,439 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.66%. 22,031 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,38,25,024.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 2.64% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.70%.
