Indian Navy signs MoU with ISRO for cooperation on Satellite based Naval Applications in Oceanology   

Indian Navy signed a MoU with the Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad on data sharing and cooperation on Satellite based Naval Applications in Oceanology and Meteorology.

Background 

With this initiative, both the organisations will have a common platform of mutual cooperation, wherein the scientific advancements by SAC would be synergised into the Indian Naval efforts to keep the nation's defence in step with rapid development in the field of Satellite Data retrieval and applications. This MoU is an extension of previous MoU signed in 2017 and will further the collaboration between two organisations.


RBI hikes Repo Rate 50 basis points to 5.4%

The repo rate, the rate at which the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lends money to commercial banks, has been hiked by one half of a percent. Considering the prevailing adverse global environment, resilience in domestic economic activity, uncomfortably high inflation level, the RBI has hiked the policy repo rate by 50 basis points, to 5.40%.

No change in Growth Projection – 7.2% for 2022-23

The Governor informed that the central bank’s growth projection for the Indian economy remains unchanged, at 7.2% for the current financial year, with Q1 at 16.2 per cent; Q2 at 6.2 per cent; Q3 at 4.1 per cent; and Q4 at 4.0 per cent. Real GDP growth for Q1:2023-24 is projected at 6.7 per cent

On inflation, the Governor explained that monetary policy should persevere further in its stance of withdrawal of accommodation to ensure that inflation moves close to the target of 4.0 per cent over the medium term, while supporting growth. The Governor informed that RBI reiterates its commitment to maintain price and financial stability to place our economy on a sustainable path of growth.


Piyush Goyal unveils digital version of ODOP gift catalogue   

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal unveiled the digital version of the ODOP gift catalogue. The digital launch took place during the meeting with Export Promotion Councils and Industry Associations at Vanijya Bhawan on 5th August 2022.

The ODOP gift catalogue includes a wide range of products like Fragrances and Oils, Indian Spirits, Home Décor products, Fabrics, and Silks and Shawls.

Background

The ODOP Initiative is aimed at achieving the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister to foster balanced regional development across all districts of the country.

The idea is to select, brand, and promote One Product from each District (One District – One Product) of the country for enabling holistic socio-economic growth across all regions.

The range of chosen products under ODOP, from all 761 districts of the country, spans multiple sectors, Ministries and Departments.


Common registration Facility of ration cards launched on pilot basis in 11 States/UTs 

The Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution Sudhanshu Pandey launched a ‘Common Registration Facility’ on pilot basis for 11 States/UTs i.e. Assam, Goa, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Tripura and Uttrakhand.

This Web based facility will enable these 11 States/UTs to collect data of persons desirous of registering for inclusion under NFSA, including migrants residing in other states. This facility will help States/UTs in expeditiously identifying and verifying the eligible beneficiaries for coverage under NFSA as per their established inclusion and exclusion criteria, subject to the ceiling limit of NFSA of the State/UT and thus achieving the rightful targeting of benefits.


Culture Ministry and Google launches ‘India ki Udaan’ 

The Ministry of Culture and Google kick started the initiative, India ki Udaan’ to celebrate the unwavering, undying, spirit of India and its achievements in the past 75 years.

This celebration started in New Delhi, with a special ceremony. This event is a continuation of a decade-long partnership between the Ministry of Culture and Google. This joint venture was organised under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.


"Badhe Chalo" Movement under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav begins 

With the objective of connecting with the youth of the nation, and to instil a deeper sense of patriotism among them, the Ministry of Culture, has decided to create a youth centric activation for greater outreach of Amrit Mahotsav named ‘Badhe Chalo’.

It is designed to involve the youth of the country encouraging them to come forward and imbibe the true spirit of our democracy and celebrate 75 years of India’s independence with youthful fervour.
Badhe Chalo is being held across 10 cities every day from 5th August to 11th August, 2022.

These events will culminate with a Grand Finale on 12th August, 2022at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. This spectacular star-studded event will feature performances by the Indian Idol stars Pawandeep Rajan and Arunita Kanjilal.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 205.59 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.50%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 205.59 Cr (2,05,59,47,243) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.93 Cr (3,93,33,226) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,35,364. Active cases now constitute 0.31% of the country's total Positive Cases. 20,551 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.50%. 21,595 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,34,45,624.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 4.64% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 5.14%.
