India and Gulf Cooperation Council signs MoU to to facilitate consultation 

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf on the mechanism of consultations between India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

PM Modi to inaugurate International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit 2022 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022, being organised at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, on 12th September, 2022.

The four day long IDF WDS 2022 being held from 12th to 15th September, is a congregation of global and Indian dairy stakeholders including industry leaders, experts, farmers and policy planners centring around the theme of ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’.

Around 1500 participants from 50 countries are expected to participate in IDF WDS 2022. The last such Summit was held in India about half a century ago in 1974.


2-day National Defense MSME Conclave and Exhibition begins in Kota 

The two-day National Defense MSME Conclave and Exhibition began in Kota, Rajasthan today. Defense equipment including T-90 and BMP-2 tanks, artillery guns, various types of sniper and machine guns and military bridges are being displayed in the exhibition.

Veteran telugu actor UV Krishnam Raju Garu passes away at 81

Former Union Cabinet Minister and Veteran telugu actor UV Krishnam Raju Garu passed away in Hyderabad. He was 82.

UV Krishnam Raju Garu joined BJP in the 1990s and was elected to the 12th and 13th Lok Sabha from Kakinada and Narsapuram constituencies. UV Krishnam Raju served as Minister of State for External Affairs in the Vajpayee Government.


Noted archaeologist Braj Basi Lal passes away at 101 

Noted archaeologist Braj Basi passed away. He was 101. Braj Basi Lal served as the director general of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) from 1968 to 1972.

Braj Basi Lal had reportedly found temple-like pillars during excavation at the Ayodhya site in the mid-70s, where the Ram temple is now being built.


Indian Navy's Nilgiri-class stealth frigate Taragiri launches in Mumbai  

Indian Navy's indigenously designed Nilgiri-class stealth guided missile frigate Taragiri launched today in Mumbai. The frigate Taragiri has been built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) for the Indian Navy.

About 

Taragiri, a 149-metre-long and 17.8-metre-wide ship is propelled by a combination of two gas turbines and two main diesel engines which are designed to achieve a speed of over 28 knots at a displacement of around 6670 tonnes.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 214.95 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.71%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 214.95 Cr (2,14,95,36,744) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.06 Cr (4,06,23,700) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 47,945. Active cases now constitute 0.11% of the country's total Positive Cases. 5,076 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.71%. 5,970 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,39,19,264.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.72% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.58%.
