PM Modi to embark on 2-day visit to Uzbekistan to attend SCO Summit 2022    

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Samarkand in Uzbekistan from 15 September 2022 to attend the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

PM Modi is visiting the country at the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the SCO Summit 2022 in Uzbekistan, the leaders are expected to review the organisation’s activities over the past two decades and discuss the state and prospects of multilateral cooperation in the future.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Signing of Guarantees for hosting Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Under 17 Women's World Cup 2022 in India

FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022 

FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022 is scheduled to be held in India between 11th and 30th October 2022. The seventh edition of the biennial youth tournament will be the first-ever FIFA women's competition to be hosted by India. Carrying on the positive legacy from the FIFA Under-17 Men's World Cup 2017, the nation is preparing for a seminal moment for women's football when the best young female footballers from across the world will be showcasing their skills to lift the coveted trophy.


Envoys of Five Nations Present Credentials to President Droupadi Murmu 

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu accepted credentials from the Ambassador/High Commissioner of Syrian Arab Republic, Czech Republic, Republic of Congo, Republic of Nauru and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (September 14, 2022). Those who presented their credentials were:

India to invite Bangladesh as guest country during its G-20 presidency 

India will invite Bangladesh as a Guest Country to take part in the G 20 meeting during its Presidency. India has decided to invite Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and UAE as Guest Countries.


RBI imposes ₹25 lakh penalty on G S Mahanagar Co-operative Bank Ltd, Mumbai 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹25.00 lakh (Rupees Twenty-five lakh only) on G S Mahanagar Co-operative Bank Limited, Mumbai, Maharashtra for non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI on ‘Maintenance of Deposit Accounts’.

Background

The statutory inspection of the bank conducted by RBI with reference to its financial position as on March 31, 2020, and examination of the Risk Assessment Report and all related correspondence pertaining to the same, revealed, inter alia, that the bank had levied penal charges for non-maintenance of minimum balance in savings bank accounts without notice to the customers and without providing one month time for restoration of the minimum balance in the accounts. 

In furtherance to the same, a notice was issued to the bank advising it to show cause as to why penalty should not be imposed for contravention of the RBI directions, as stated therein.


President Droupadi Murmu to attend state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II 

President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu will visit London, the United Kingdom from 17th to 19th September 2022 to attend the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and offer condolences on behalf of the Government of India.

Queen Elizabeth II, the former head of state of the UK and Head of the Commonwealth of Nations passed away on the 8th September 2022.


36th Tri-Services Commanders’ Conference - South held in Port Blair 

36th Tri-Services Commanders’ Conference (TSCC) - South was held at Port Blair on 12th & 13th September 2022 under the aegis of Andaman and Nicobar Command.

Aims

The conference was aimed at synergising collective strengths and capabilities of India’s littoral service and Integrated-Service commands. It focused on addressing contemporary security paradigms while seeking ways to enhance combat capability and make operations more effective and efficient.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 215.67 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.71%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 215.67 Cr (2,15,67,06,574) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.06 Cr (4,06,90,829) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 45,749. Active cases now constitute 0.1% of the country's total Positive Cases. 5,108 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.71%. 5,675 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,39,36,092.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.70% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.44%.
