Govt extends PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till December 2022: The Union Cabinet has approved the extension for the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY-Phase VII) for a further period of 3 months i.e. October to December 2022.

Government has approved this extension of PMGKAY for three months, so that common man continue to enjoy the benefits of easy availability of foodgrains without any financial distress.

Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana extends October to December 2022

Centre extends Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) for another three months (October 2022-December 2022). Under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana scheme, 5 kg of food grain per person per month is provided free of cost for all the beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) [Antodaya Anna Yojana & Priority Households] including those covered under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

PM Modi to inaugurate 36th National Games 2022 Opening Ceremony in Ahmedabad on 29 Sep 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 36th National Games 2022 at a grand Opening Ceremony to be held at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on 29th September 2022.

National Games are being held in the state of Gujarat for the very first time. It will be organised from 29th September to 12th October, 2022. Nearly 15,000 sportspersons, coaches, and officials from across the country will be participating in 36 sports disciplines, making it the biggest National Games ever. The sporting events will be organised in six cities of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.


INS Sunayna participates in Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) Exercise in Seychelles 

INS Sunayna participated in the capacity building exercise Operation Southern Readiness conducted by Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) at Seychelles from 24 to 27 September 2022. This is the maiden participation of an Indian Navy ship in CMF exercise.

Cabinet approves 4% increase in DA and DR to Govt employees 

The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the release of additional instalment of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief @ 4% to Central Government employees and pensioners due from 01.07.2022 based on the percentage increase in 12 monthly average of All India Consumer Price Index for the period ending June, 2022.

Cabinet approves MoU between India and Bangladesh on withdrawal water from common border river Kushiyara 

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its ex-post facto approval for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Bangladesh on withdrawal of upto 153 cusecs of water each by India and Bangladesh from common border river Kushiyara.

Background 

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 6th September, 2022 between the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of the Republic of India and Ministry of Water Resources, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on withdrawal of upto 153 cusecs of water each by India and Bangladesh from common border River Kushiyara during dry season (1st November to 31st May) for their consumptive water requirement.

This MoU will enable Government of Assam to withdraw upto 153 cusecs of water from the common stretch of Kushiyara river during dry season (1st November to 31st May) for their consumptive water requirement.


Cabinet approves redevelopment of New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Mumbai Railway Stations 

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved Indian Railways’ proposal for redevelopment of 3 major railway stations with an approximate total investment of nearly ₹10,000 Crore.

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 217.96 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.72%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 217.96 Cr (2,17,96,31,500) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.09 Cr (4,09,73,196) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 40,979. Active cases now constitute 0.09% of the country's total Positive Cases. 3,615 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.72%. 4,972 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,40,09,525.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.55% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.12%.
